The Hardest hitting Headphones are.. ( "The EXTREME BASS Club")

How does the impact and bass of the th900 compare to the sz200? Not sure which to get. I already own an hd800 as reference. I want something a lot more fun.

Is the Denon 7k comparable to the th900? If so then I can comment on this.

sz2k is about as fun as they get... i'm assuming if you have an hd800 you have a halfway decent amp?

The 1k is better out of the box and more comfortable. Easier to get the bass out of the way if you choose to do so. The difference between a full brass shield/tube and just tabs is noticeable.

So, if I interpret this correctly, the SZ1k is to be preferred over the SZ2k?  Sorry if I misunderstood.

I would say no, since it has slightly less bass capability, and why else are you looking at the SZs if not for bass? But I chose the 1000 because it seemed slightly more versatile (don't have any other over-ears) and was $60 cheaper.

Personally to me, both headphones sound like crap out of the box. Both have enough bass(with amp and eq) to cause massive hemorrhaging, but the 2k's go further, and both clean up really well with EQjitsu skills.
I'd get the 2k's,but you can't go wrong with either. Price difference is pretty substantial between the 2.

As a reference to EQing the headphones, I just use the frequency graph and try to adjust everything to center/neutral. Then I start bumping up the bass frequencies, and adjust upper mids and highs a bit. I like a U shape with these, but everyone has their own preferences. I will say though that I can listen to most genre of music with no issues.

Awesome headphones.

To my 54 year old ears the D7000 was basically the same headphone..............had both Lawton modded with his angle pads.

Cool. Well, personally, the D7000 didn't even last a day in my possession.
It's funny because the day I was about to come in here and post that I bought a 7000, HBB posted his video of the Denon 5000!
no communication or planning there... we just happened to get pretty much the same headphone at the same time.
I think i remember him saying in the vid the 5k and 7k are sonically identical.

Anyway....

The 7000 had a nice sound signature, and sure you can say the bass has great depth and impact and presence and everything, but the crucial question is if you're comparing it to the SZ2000 or all other headphones in the world. no seriously.

All other phones = the 7000 is probably serious basshead material, at least would be if you were used to some other bass anemic headphone.
7000 vs SZ2k = there is really honestly nothing I can say in the 7000's defense except it sounds a s*** ton better out of the box, with no EQ, or with less powerful sources.

The SZ2k is so much more engaging overall, really barely lacks any detailing compared to the 7000, and has tons more bass impact and power. Actually on the same amp settings the SZ2k ruthlessly crushes the 7000 in bass impact.

That's why I owned a 7000 for about 2 hours before throwing it back up for sale. I made what I spent back and was happy.
If i'm not mistaken (correct me if i'm wrong) HBB sold his 5000's the same week or the next week.

SZ2k is the answer for engaging sound and the best bass. If you don't want crap tons of impact, throw some brainwavz memory foam on the sz2k and it absorbs all the impact, and you get arguably even better than the 7000's sound IMHO

Got my Cayin C5 yesterday, and the improvement over the A3 is quite satisfying. It also stacks nicely with my old HTC M7.

Any tips on setting up an EQ profile for the SZ1000 within Fusion?

Never used Fusion but I'm joining team Android very soon and will be able to come up with something I like by then.

Here is my current always used EQ for reference, you can probably make something good based off this :)

I've been perfecting this for a long time and it allows for the hardest slammage without distortion on any set of phones or stereo setup I've tested it on to date.

They don't; you buy a set of 55x cans just for the pads. They did have a used pair for $20 as of last night, but I decided to live with the Brainwavz pads for a while.

Does anyone know the difference between the 77x and 55x pads?
