With my bass setup the SZ2000s could tank the sub bass but the 1000s distorted unless I cranked the EQ down.

I got the same result which is why they are not on the list.
They have a bass tube like the SZ (without the chamber....and it's made of wood...the tube....pretty epic stuff.) Pads eat up a lot of the impact but they are seeeexy motherfu___s!!

Hey HBB, what's your opinion on the Philips A5Pro with the Cayin C5. I'm looking for basshead but not SZ2000 crazy bass.

Those were gotten by cb3723 who is a Van buren fanboy and he was really bummed about the bass. He wanted to love them like his Ultrasone sig pro dj but they were bass light in comparison even with our bass test settings.

Sad day, had to post my SZ2000's on classifieds. I hope they find a happy home.

I'm actually not getting any distortion on the DX1000 when I crank up the EQ. That said, it doesn't respond as much to EQ as something like the Fostex TH600.

One thing I noticed is that the paper test isn't ideal for these. What seems to be most important for testing impact is measuring the point where your ear is going to me. The way these pads are shaped, that's not really even possible to do.

I noticed a similar issue with the Lawton pads on the TH600. They definitely eat some of the bass impact. If you wear the pads backwards, though, you actually get more impact than the stock pads because they're firm and your ears are close to the drivers. The soundstage gets a little screwy with them backwards, though.

Narita will be where you land and down south is where you need to go for the fun (aside from headphone touring in the metropolitan areas.

If you're talking normal bass around 100hz sure these cans can make it. But when you go right down to sub bass, around 20hz or so, that's when distortion sets in. Instead of the thump, you get loads of distortion. My Pro 700s can do a better job than them when it comes to the sub bass.

Odd. I'm using these settings right now with zero distortion listening to Wiz Khalifa - On My Level. They actually shake my ears quite a bit, just less than the Fostex TH600 (or the Pro700Mk2/WS99 I had for a bit).

I'm not saying they belong on the Top 10 list for hardest hitters, but they're very close and belong on an audiophile basshead list for sure. They have more basshead potential than the majority of "basshead" headphones out there and sound pretty amazing as well.

This is +25dB to the sub-bass. 10dB from EqualizerAPO/PeaceGUI (free parametric equalizer), 15dB from the Vorzuge VorzAMP Duo bass switch (blue line):

That's weird. Maybe the display set at my local store was faulty... I couldn't even increase the sub bass without it distorting.

Guys I need some help on choosing where to buy some JVC HA-SZ1000 from. I have seen many for sale on Amazon which are imported from Japan, seems like you can only get them from japan if you live in the U.K unless you buy them from the JVC UK e-shop for £229. Has anyone purchased these headphones from amazon and they received genuine JVC HA-SZ1000's. I have seen them listed from £105 to £180+, any idea which seller I should buy them from? Any help would be appreciated guys

It looks like amazon.co.uk is a seller if you're willing to spend £178.57. I've never dealt with any of the sellers I see there (I'm in the States), but I generally only deal with sellers with 100+ ratings at ~99%+ positive. If you want the SZ2000 and can buy from eBay, I've purchased from this place before and had a good experience (http://www.ebay.com/itm/ew-JVC-Victor-Outdoor-headphones-premium-model-HA-SZ2000-from-japan-new-/141584370834).

The JVC HA-SZ2000 work out to be under £150 if I buy them from your link but they are only on sale for 2 more days :/ . I'm gonna put the money in my bank account on monday so.. but if anyone else know a reputable seller whether it be eBay or Amazon, please feel free to share a link with me as I will really appreciate it :)
