AM2A is well compatible with popular stuffs, and it presents neutral but a little bit smooth sound signature. It is textured in high-mid frequency, clear and analytical in resolution and rich in low frequency. So it’s overall well-controlled in sound quality. (* Subjective listening experience is for reference only, not as judgment criteria.)
 
 
And yes, X7 amp modules will be compatible with the X7ii.

James, is there going to be another production run for the AM3 or a new balanced module? It's never been easy to find the AM3 and seems to be out of stock from anyone I would buy it from. 
 
Please let us know the status of the AM3.

I don't know if its the same for every part of the world, but in my case I paid $50 for the module, which is not exactly 50%.
Remember that you may also apply for customs so expect the total cost to rise a bit ... even so a bargain and a great initiative from FiiO!

I had the mojo and x7/am5. They are very, vety similat to my ears, equal in sq. The x7 has a bigher soundstage, the mojo has a tad warmer sound and a little big more organic sound. I sold the mojo to avoid a stack. Cant go wrong with either.

i wish there was a way to turn off the line out in the settings because I have my fiio x7 connected to alo mk3 B to use with my oppo pm1 and everytime I want to use my iem I have to unlpug the cable from the lineout so I can plug my iem to the fiio x7 itself

I don't think anyone can answer that until people get hold of them. More than likely the differences will be very subtle. What headphones or IEMs do you want to use the X7 with?

It was for me. Still waiting for the AM5 to arrive but i paid exactly $50 usd

Don't forgot to count fees at the customs (depending on your country). I was unlucky and my discounted AM2 got holded up at the customs, so in the end I paid 70 USD.
 
Still appreciate what FiiO did, since my local distributor is selling AM2 for ±135 $.
