Dude, look at the pic in the link provided.

I'll make it easy for you. There is an 11 pin USB to DIGITALLY connect to other FiiO devices, and a LINE OUT port that is separate. You can not have a DIGITAL USB LINE OUT.

Craig - its just a misunderstanding with terms.  He's talking about the connection between the X7 and the dock being USB.  So the X7 is actually sending an analogue signal through that port - to then go to the docks line-out rear port.  The dock doesn't have a DAC.

And the 11 pin USB can transit an analogue signal - it does the same on the K5.

Arrrg. My apologies. I was short and really didn't need to be. I see now what was being said.

But it does only connect via USB Craig - there is no other input.  The line-out is exactly that - a line-out.  So the X7 connects via USB connection to the dock.  Then outputs either via it's own line out jack at the top, or the dock's line-out.  He wasn't misunderstanding - at least it was pretty clear to me anyway.

Yes Paul. I see where the miscommunication was. I already apologised in my reply above yours. You may have seen the post before my edit. Again, a misunderstanding on my part of what was being said.

Cheers mate - I could see your meaning too.  Just crossed wires is all.

I'm pretty interested in trying the DK1 anyway.  Hopefully Sunny will send me one to review if/when he sends the AM3.

And the above is another reason why the X7 shouldn't use USB-C. There would be no room in the two sided USB-C connector to accomodate the special line out pins.

Not exactly a stack Tamal - and sorry about the poor photography - done in a hurry

iDSD is under the monitor, Enterprise is the big shiny tube amp to the side.  Comparatively tiny X7 and K5 is out of the way for now on top of the JBL LSR305

wow the Enterprise is massive! Living up the namesake I see haha. Thanks for the pic Paul. Do you use the X7 as a USB dac much compered to the iDSD? The iDSD looks really nice.

HI,

I just read the Headfonia review of the Pioneer XDP, and in it, the reviewer mentions the X7. He said that some 3rd party players don't run well on the X7. He specifically names Neutron and JetAudio, which I also use.

I'v been waiting on the AM3 amp module to get the X7, but if it can't run the JetAudio player stably, that would be a deal breaker for me. The editor chimed in and did offer that the reviewer didn't update the firmware.

Are some of you with the X7 running Jetaudio and does it really have problems?

Thanks.

Hmm, in this case I'm afraid I have to act like the computer shop idiot who receives the computer from a customer asking to upgrade the CPU and wipes his hard drive instead.

Anyway the point is I don't know the answer to what you're asking. All I know to do is to try doing the OTA update and hope it doesn't wipe out all your settings (which it shouldn't, apart from probably removing root), and, if what you get is a soft brick, I've provided the safety net of being able to flash your X7 back to a version of stock firmware. Unfortunately that safety net doesn't include preserving any of your settings
redface.gif

So the question is "is there anything like nandroid backup available in the stock recovery"? I'll have to defer to the experts at @FiiO for that.

Any news about this question?

Or I think manual update with hold -volume button should help, if device will bricked. Right?
