Official Metro Detroit 2014 Meet/Party/Get-Together 9/20/2014 [UPDATED 9/19/2014]

Is this limited only to those that have high end gear? I've been wanting to demo some of these setups for a while now to see if I want to invest in a serious rig.  I've got the monoprice 8323 and 9927 but, I don't think anybody is gonna be interested in demoing them .

I can possibly make it to this now and I will have my Direct Stream dac by then. I have no headphones to bring and it's a pain in the ass to haul my speakers anywhere, so that's all I would bring.

so I've decided to switch from the Oppo pm-1 to the Audeze LCD-X(new), I will be bringing that instead. HOPEFULLY by the meet I will have the Oppo HA-1 (amp/DAC) to bring with me by the time the meet is. If not I will try to get my hands on a Burson Soloist SL, paired with an antelope audio zodiac +. (Would be borrowed). If worse comes to worst and I can't get my hands on a silver HA-1 by then, and I can't borrow the zodiac and burson, I will just be bringing my vanilla hifiman ef-5 with a schiit modi.

Hi everyone!

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I've been working a lot and really wrapped up with my kids activities.

I plan in spending some time this weekend updating the thread with the attendants, equipment, etc. for the meet. As for me, I just closed the deal on a Schiit Mjolnir which I will bring to the meet.

Andystaff, I'll message you about your question listed above.

Look forward to meeting everyone. In the meantime, I hope everyone is enjoying the artwork I've been posting promoting the event. I have more coming soon!

Hi All,

We've had a really good response to the Detroit Meet being held on 9/20/2014 in Troy, MI!

I plan on posting the gear list by the end of August. We have some pretty sweet equipment anticipated at the meet including some great headamps from the likes of Fiio and Schiit to name a few. DACs include Bifrost Uber, Dragonfly, AlgoRhythem as well as others.

Of course, many fantastic cans will be there including headphones from HifiMan, Audeze, Sennheiser, Beyerdynamic, IEMs as well as others...

In addition to posting the anticipated equipment list, I'll soon be sending PMs to those who have said they were coming. Want to make sure that those who have committed are still available.

Look forward to meeting everyone!

Wow, I am looking forward to this meet.. I have also sent a note to the coordinator of the SMAC (Sountern Michigan Audio Club) inviting interested members from their group as well.

I think I can get an open WiFi setup up and may be able to have a music server setup. Hopefully, people will be bringing amps and sources as well as headphones and IEMs. There is no existing music system in this building.

If you could, or have those interested, contact me directly through PM with any gear they would be brining. I'm going to post a list of the anticipated gear around Sept. 1. Plus, I'd like to have name badges made as well.

Thanks Dan!

Hey guys, sorry, but it looks like I'll have to miss it this year.  I wish you guys all the luck in the world though, and a fantastic meet!

On a side note... from one meet organizer to another (and as the person who does the graphics for our California meets)... LOVE THE ARTWORK YOU GUYS HAVE GOT GOIN' ON!

Might I suggest that you guys make a small run of t-shirts to commemorate the meet?  I'd buy one.

warrenpchi,

No worries. Would have liked to meet you but I understand.

Thanks for the nice words about the artwork. I'm kicking around a t-shirt offering. More to come. Hey, I'm trying to swing a trip to CanJam in October. Would love to catch up then.

Thanks again!

Taking warrenpchi's advice, I created a custom t-shirt for the meet. I'd like to know if anyone would be interested in purchasing. If so, I'll finalize it on Custom Ink and make it available. Let me know your thoughts...

Has anyone who's coming to the meet done any custom, DIY work with cables? I just ordered a pair of AKG K702 but have a balanced-only amp (Mjolnir). I found a thread on modding the K702 to make them balanced but I've never done anything like soldering, modding etc.

Please post here or feel free to PM me. Thanks.
