Rockbox for iBasso DX50 dual boot with stock firmware
Mar 13, 2014 at 10:20 PM Post #34 of 2,020
I installed Rockbox, but in Rockbox mode I can't find any of my music.  Files > sdcard appears to be empty.

Am I missing something?

I've never used Rockbox for Androd - just Rockbox for Clip, so I may be missing something simple?

Update:
- fix: apply saved volume level on startup

I think you broke something with this. I typically find -22 dB to be a comfortable level both with my Clip and with Rockbox. Today, -22 dB is barely audible. Reverting to yesterday's version brings the -22 dB setting back to -22 dB.

Also -- and this is a minor thing so don't bust yourself on it -- car adapter mode only half works (2014-03-13). The player pauses when USB power is removed but does not resume when power is restored.

Does anybody know where to find user manual for version of rockbox running on DX50. I tried to find ti on official rockbox site but failed to find it. I assume that manual for touch screen devices are different than for other devices?

Rockbox has an automated system for building manuals for every player based on firmware settings and keymap, I'll try to build.

Most probably fixed, that was due to wrong sign when I was combining hw volume with sw balance.

I don't even know yet what is a car adapter mode :)

>I notice the menus settings/menus are a bit re-arranged? Also on the main screen, the "shutdown" button is erroneously renamed to "Recursively"
That could happen, I will update language files with every build from now.

>Does the lock switch works on your DX50?
Yes. There was a bug - it was broken for cases when spdif or lineout inserted, but now fixed.

I can confirm, the menus are fine after the update. The lock switch also works flawlessly. Got to try more options and see if I can uncover more bugs. So far I don't see any issues with playback. Thanks again for the update.

Car Adapter Mode: when USB power is removed, the player pauses playback. When USB power is restored the player resumes playback. The idea is that in a car, the player should pause when the engine is stopped and and resume when the engine is started again.

Speaking of power, what has battery life been like? Given what I've seen, either the battery gauge is not working right or iBasso lied to me when I told them that I suspected that Mango does excessive flash I/O and kills battery life and they said it was just the CPU.

I think it's as easy as other DAPs with Rockbox. I am not messing with the themes yet as I like the default theme blending in with DX50's overall design. Besides, I want to concentrate first on features affecting SQ.

As of the moment. DX50 feels like a new DAP to me. With the latest update all buttons are responding flawlessly with each press. No more annoying delays. Except for the Long press on the power button to shutdown the player, all button functions are spot on.
