Is there a quick impression of the sound signature?

In the meantime, can I ask what your preferred sound signature is?
Despite being a member here for years I don't have many 'phones as reference, but I have a TF10.
How would your perfect sig' compare to that?

I'm very keen to read your thoughts, as this seems like a very interesting product ( even if it is well outside the price bracket I can afford! )

for now H-300. :) (with eqed down Treble). Alternatively, slightly brighter mids than H300.
Dunu DN1000 isn't half bad either.

Generally my preference is - reasonably forward and detailed upper and lower mids mids, extended but not sibilant or 10k peaked highs, and merlin+ or mentor+ or jh16fp- bass (i.e. there but sub-bass and bass focused without mid-bass bloat or bleeding into the mids) . hopefully when that all sounds coherent and has no other annoying peaks, resonances, distortion/ringing.

Thanks for the comprehensive answers svyr.
I look forward to your more detailed reaction to the BD4.2
It's a shame you aren't enthused about these, I wonder if the full custom shell would sound substantially different?

I am impressed with Lear's engagement with us here, and the look of their CIEM's.

Phil at Cosmic ears reshelled my TF10's for me, and added a dynamic driver to bolster sub bass, which worked well but I still feel that the TF10's weaknesses haven't been completely mitigated ( still have to listen at slightly uncomfortably high volume to get satisfying mids ).

The reasoning behind doubling the dynamic drivers is intriguing, and appeals to me in a 'less is more' way ( less non driver components obv' ) so I hope this works out for Lear in the end.

I have the Lear hybrid here with me.  I'll write some thoughts up a little later.
