Wait now it sounds like you're saying the cloth one is silver plated which isn't true. Also, the person who reviewed the cables earlier in the thread said the cloth sounded exactly the same as stock and the silver sounded better.

Sorry my bad. Clothed one is only copper. Why not buy them first and see yourself if they are warm or bright for your tastes and then decide which cable to go?

So it sounds like maybe the silver one isn't worth it. Like it takes an analytical headphone and makes it even more so, causing sibilance.

Yeah, IM02 is already bright/analytical sounding IEM and probably silver cable may cause sibilance in some songs.

Pardon me here, but as earphonia stated, the IM03 is the best of Im01-02-03 as in clarity, transparentcy.....IM04 is warmer. I personally experienced Im03, and I have to say that the detail and clarity here is very very good......only is a little bit pricey

The IM03 has a bright treble region that allows clarity and detail to be more readily apparent. On the down side, I found the IM03 the most sibilant of the 4. IMO, the IM02 brings the most balanced/natural sound of the entire IM range. IM04 on the other hand, is more lush, has a warmer tone with a sweet midrange and well textured bass. I liked the IM04 best, and for my wife, who's a detail/clarity junkie, she decided on the IM02.

And yeah, I agree that the IM03 is a tad overpriced.

This is how dual drivers look like.

There is a magnet between the drivers. Actually two magnets the second one is behind the second driver on the top under the soldering plate.

I probably should have asked this before I ordered the IM02 and IM70, but what are the chances of Audio Technica releasing a product refresh of these any time soon?

Not any time soon as far as I know.

Exactly what I thought when I auditioned the IM03 and IM04 (while transiting Singapore, great city btw).  The IM04 also has good details in the bass, as good as the LCD-2.  The texture and tightness is a little better on the Lcd-2.

From Beats to He1000...

Has there been any im02 vs gr07BE comparisons

I have the IM04 and GR07BE (I know you want a comparison between the IM02 and GR07BE).  Both have a very similar sound signature - lush, warm, slight emphasis on the mids.  Where the IM04 pulls ahead is little more Bass impact, details especially in the lower region, bigger soundstage and more pinpoint imaging.  You could almost say the IM04 is a bigger brother of the GR07BE.  Most people say the IM02 is analytical/bright.  So, two different headphone flavours.

Hmmm I am reading earphonia review again, and I found it quiet interesting....so basically with more conductivity for low resistance IM-02 will sound warmer and tilt toward the natural and balanced tonality, otherwise it would sound brighter and more metallic ? While IM-03 doesn't change much, but still change as in lower Z, it sounds brighter, and higher Z it sounds more natural.....and IM-04 with higher Z will sound warmer and stickier, less spaces.......lower Z will sound the best ?

So it look lik

Im01 and im03 is easier to drive, and not picky if you pair them with IPod, smartphones...higher Z DAPs......seems like cable upgrade shall not be here

Im02 and im04 is pickier to drive, best to pair with low impedence amps and DAPs, not recommended on smartphone.....and cable upgrade is definitely ?
.......confusing....

Does anyone know the out Z of ZX2 ?

Thank you earphonia

I just A/B my im02 and soundmagic hp150. Just on slipknot tracks. Better separation on the instruments (guitars, drums) on HP150. im02 makes them all muddled. But they sound closer on the im02. HP150 sounds thin. If thats the proper way to describe it. haha
