I've been into closed headphones lately. I need the isolation on my daily commute so I recently got the Beyer DT 250-250 and DT 770-250. Both of those are pretty good with the 770 having a better bottom end and the 250 having a better top end. I was looking for something new and decided to check out the JVC HA-DX3. I found out that CDW carries these and since I'm close to the downtown store I decided to give them a call. Of course they didn't have any in stock, but said they could order one which I had them do for me. It should be here in 3-5 days. I will probably track down a Denon closed can like the 750 or 950 also and then do a review of all of them with pics(my Sony MVC-FD92 should be here by that time).

I am on a similar quest. I really enjoy my DT831s at home, but they are a bit conspicuous at work. Plus they don't isolate well enough.

Etymotics sound awesome, but are a pain to install/remove frequently.

Sony V6 are handy and durable, but don't sound as good as I would like (man am I getting spoiled).

Not enough choices out there. DT250-80s look interesting.

How bout this: DT250 drivers in sony V6 housings! Would they fit?

Always the quest.

I think they are the same size so I think it would work.

Just ordered a Denon AHD-950 to add to the list.

I would be most interested in your impressions of these closed cans. Although I like my Grados, there are times when the isolation of closed cans is required. I try to listen extensively to products when I can before laying down my $$$. Presently I like my V-6's, especially my new ones (better than my 10 yr old ones). I have been thinking about investing in Beyer 250-80's but I need to drive a ways to find a set to audition. I have resisted the temptation to buy many sets of cheap closed cans hoping to find some decent sound. Quality over quantity!

Yo, Acidtrip, there is an audio store on Ogden Ave. in Westmont (close to Rt. 83) that has Denon headphones on display. If you don't want to sink the money into these over the 'net, may be worth the drive.

Anyone tried out both Beyerdynamic DT250-80 and Sennheiser HD280 Pro? Which is the better one (regardless of price-difference)?

I am set on buying the Beyerdynamic DT250-80, probably next week, but this Sennheiser HD280 Pro gives me last minute doubts. Anyone able to clear the confusion for me?

My impression is that the HD280 is superior in design and in isolation, but what about the sound?

I found the business card - its called Sounds Deluxe and the address is:

433 West Ogden Ave.
Clarendon Hills, IL 60514
Phone (630)887-9818
www.soundsdeluxe.com

They had all five models of Denons on display, and you can take them into the main audio equip room and test to your hearts content. If I recall correctly, their prices ranged from $55 (AHD-210) to $160 (AHD-950), but you could probably work them on the prices a little, just like any other high-end stereo store.

Cool, can God lend me his Stax for a week then? LOL...you have one of the cooler names here, something about "cajun" reminds me of a friend who is over indulgent in food.

I'm in the market for some quality closed cans. No Sonys or other monitoring headphones. Noise has been a serious problem as of lately, I need some isolation (no to ear buds). They have to be big and comfortable, but most importantly, easily driven (must sound good of course). Portable use is ideal, even if they're not meant for it, as long as they're rugged. Need suggestions.
