Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Beyond that, do you have any other suggestions for what you'd want to hear about? The measurement chapter was a lot of fun!

It seems to me that Schiity product improvements will be appreciated only by a smaller and smaller group of the golden-eared variety as time goes on. I don't think I'm in that group, which is good for my budget, but will there be a point at which a particular product just does not need to be updated anymore because there is nothing more to be gained?

Here's a counter-point: bringing higher levels of performance to more affordable price ranges will allow people to affordably invest in better gear. They will discover they CAN hear a difference, and then begin to wonder if that next step up is worthwhile. When they discover it is, we have another member of the Club. Of course, it will leave them wondering if this Schiit is for real.

Good question...the short answer being, "yes." It's actually very hard to improve on the current "2" series products, at least without fundamentally changing what they are. For example, for a hypothetical Asgard 3, should it have more power? If yes, we're looking at heatsinks or fans (and a higher retail price.) Should it have more functionality (input switching, etc)? If so, that may affect the cost as well. Beyond that, how do you refine the simple, robust true Class-A topology it already has? There's really not much to do there. And if you change the design fundamentally--say, to a high-bias Class AB design (so you can get more power output and not have to use a fan), is it really an Asgard 3, or is it something else?

Don't worry, we have ideas for next-gen products, but they may take some very different directions, and may not even build on the current product line. Like I said at the beginning of the year, there are no "series 3" products imminent. The line is in a good place. I'd expect revolution, not evolution, for the next gen.

I'd like a whole chapter on the [REDACTED] and why it still has the on/off switch on the back and NO remote.

Look at the board and the location of the transformers. Compare to the depth of the switches used. You tell me where to put the power switch on the front.

Remotes? For headphone products?

Id love to hear about product development post-statement products. There's trickle-down yes, but also moves in new directions and I get the sense that not all of it comes from just playing around but also some intentional new ideas. Perhaps that's too general, but I'd love to hear thoughts on that!

Btw - really love current Schiit products as preamps, and hoping for some more 2 channel stuff. Please?

Jason- count me among your "2 channel" following. Yggy + Rag, with a good set of stand-mount monitors and subwoofers, makes for a great system.

No worries on more 2-channel stuff...with remotes! It's definitely in the plan. I can't say on timeline, though...

What I'd love to see is a Fulla 2 with a bitperfect DAC.

Really, not kidding; hear me out.

That would mean that bitperfect DAC chips would be 1) available again, 2) inexpensive, and 3) really good.

Not that it's likely, but it would be nice!  And not a lot Schiit can do to push the industry that way.

This is a good question.  So many new products are just repackaging, cosmetic, or cost cutting mods but on the other hand it's hard to pull a new bunny out of the hat 3 times a year.  For a small start-up Schiit has released torrent of products.

I'd love to someday see a Schiit portable.

Feature request: fully balanced amp/DAC (with 4-pin XLR jack).

There are very few balanced portables currently and only one portable that I know of with the 4-pin XLR jack. That's the Centrance Hi-Fi M8, but it's actually a singled-ended amp, with a balanced connector thrown on there along with the SE jacks.

Sure, it might be a bit brick-like, but I could totally live with something totable but not necessarily pocketable.

Not 4-pin XLR but the ALO Continental Dual Mono is a pretty portable balanced DAC/amp
