Clip Zip 'Sport' 16Gb ?

Mine hasn't frozen up or anything and I have like 4500+ files on the FAT 32 formatted MicroSDXC card I'm using.
Still liking it so far, music subjectively sounds good, wish they went with a simpler OLED screen though, the LCD is so unnecessary and sucks in sunlight unless maxed, and you have to go in the settings to adjust brightness, and I like it dim when using it in the dark... Dumb on their part.
Battery life is great, UI is ugly though, crossing fingers for decent firmware upgrades and maybe a custom firmware way down the line if ever.
Is it me or is the FM radio worthless? It just doesn't work, I mean I don't expect a good antenna in there compared to say my smartphone's FM tuner, but still lol.
Any tips and tricks or new info you guys in the know have? I read some of the tech deets on the chipset that were posted, anything new on that end on the components used, I'm a helpless geek for that sort of stuff...

Hmm... crap.  My clip zip is showing signs of starting to fail, altho nothing major yet.  It has lost any ability to connect to computer via usb.  Given I like its highly portable size, I might want to pick up a backup Clip in the near future.  I enjoy Rockbox, but I'm in no way stubborn enough to refuse to try out the Sport due to its lack of it in the near and possibly far future.  I guess the main question I have to answer now is, do I try out the Sport, get another Zip while they're still available, or go route#3 and try out a Clip+ which I've never played with.  Any suggestions?

Either a Clip Zip or a Clip+ with Rockbox is the way to go. Clip Sport has issues.....if nothing else, wait on the Clip Sport to see if any firmware updates can improve things.

So, bought a clip+ seeing that my zip appeared to be failing.  And of course 10 minutes after I get the clip+ I figure out my zip wasn't failing at all, but a computer issue instead that I've now circumvented.  Guess it doesn't hurt to have a spare ridiculously cost effective rockbox lying about.

Some here have over 4 Sandisk Clip players. I hope Sandisk doesn't discontinue the Clip+ and Clip Zip now that the Clip Sport is out. The Clip Zip is so tempting when it is on sale for $30 or less.

does any one have sound comparison of the clip sport with the rockboxed clip+?

With the 'un-rockbocked' clip+, I didnt hear any difference in sound.

But functionality, the clip sport is bad!. I dont like it anymore. Sadly I sold my clip+ in the excitement.

The font, artwork on the clip+ reminds back to Windows 95.
The amount of clicks needed to get to a song in album view is 2 instead of 1.
The power button seems to need to be pushed several times before it gets powered on.
There is a  'shuffle' menu that starts with the list of songs in each album view (never seen this in a player before)

The only + I saw in this was the built.

I will be getting rid of this soon, and probably get a nano.

Clip+ screen was stellar although you dont have a 5-6 line view in the screeen.

Dont know, I have lots of itunes one hour podcasts in there (approx 25GB) and some aac files.
Quote:
Does it support 24/96?

1. The back clip is much stronger.
2. The spacing of the controls are much better. For eg. the back and forward buttons are at opposite poles of the player (towards the edge).
3. I 'feel' the materials used externally are more durable. Doesnt feel like cheap plastic (but I could be wrong)

This is all my time used while running with the player.

With the clip+, while running it was hard to look at the screen (fonts was too small), the back clip always slipped out from my pocket trim, navigation was poorer too.

Wish I kept my clip+

how does the build quality compare to clip+/zip?

Eesh...  saw a 4gig red for 20, so figured I'd give it a try.  The fact that it organizes the album tracks not by track# but alphabetically...  there must be a setting in there somewhere to fix that, and if not, I really hope this thing gets rockbox, b/c RB has spoiled me to no end for clips.

If your filenames are numbered (01, 02, 03, etc.), then selecting an album in the Folder menu will allow it to play in the proper order...works for MP3, iTunes-purchased albums, and FLACs. It is aggravating to have to remember to do it that way every time though.

I don't use it very often, and when I do, I usually shuffle, so I don't have to deal with it....lol.

...having to rename every music file to number them...  I'd sooner toss the clip sport into a microwave...  well, it could be turned into a shuffle dap of doom, I guess.  Put all the music in the same folder, and shuffle play every time...
