Not quite sure what you meant here. If you are saying it will compare in SQ to a hugo you are also saying it will be better than AK240. If that's what you are saying i think it highly unlikely. However if it is that good it will obviously sell like hot cakes in winter.

What makes you say it's highly unlikely that DX90 will compare or btetter than an AK240 SQ-wise?

Good news to everyone, first I am another one who was told that April 7 is the DX90 launch but the bigger news, at least for me and for some they said they ironed out all the bugs including the volume spike bug for both models and will release the firmware at the same time the DX90 will be released so my hat to them, I was really waiting for this to rejoice.

Wow! Good work man. And thanks for the news. Excitement level has just hit hyperdrive.

I am saying I will have a reference to compare to. Do I think the DX90 will compare to the AK240, I think it is possible and I think sound wise, the DX90 is going to be  a super hit.

Fair enough...First impressions will be interesting to read. Then some time later so will the third and fourth...I hope they are great.

I think that also implies that DX90 will be better than DX100. Is that possible given the way iBasso number it as 90?

Possible for iems and easy to drive phones. But remember DX100 has a powerful amp which can't be matched by DX90. Counting other features not present in DX90, overall DX100 is still above DX90.

Yes.

So far it's looking good, as shown by their initial specs, it certainly sound very promising, my hope is that the player will be truly portable without an amp, and it looks like it will most likely be that way. What's remarkable about the player is its size, it easily fits anywhere where space is at a premium, now with better specs it's like icing on the cake.

I'm a little put off it, hearing about that volume bug that apparently still exists on the dx50. Don't want to damage my ears. Apart from that it looks good. Not sure I'd like to buy it first, had issues when i did tht last time with the dx50 andf ended up sending it back.

I am not sure what version you had when you got your issues but with the latest, a lot of problems got solved. It's not perfect by any means but is quite operable and can provide you with hours of listening enjoyment. As far as the volume spike bug they claimed they fixed it but because it's going to be released in a week or so, I will be more tolerant of it by using my amp until I can check it out. If you want to play safe, which is always the best thing to do, wait until it's been released and check with the current owners to see if some issues you experienced have vanished, been resolved.

  Atleast you have "Options".
I have a 2003 Xttera with supercharger (my suv drinks gas like it's a slurpee on a summer day) and a system with so much DRM that it only plays "original CD's".
Had a "Pathfinder" with 10 disc changer man i miss it.

Really??  I've never heard of something like that.  Sounds like a textbook case for a radio replacement on it.  Just remember...you can take your equipment with you when you get a new car!  Speakers might not always fit, but the head unit usually will.

Toyota will put a supercharger in my FJ without voiding the warranty...I've been tempted.  :)

So if they've "fixed" the volume bug, does that mean they identified the root cause? if they did, I assume this fix will be applied in the DX50 1.2.9 FW?

Yes, they will be applying it to the DX50.

What is odd, with all my major use of the DX50, and I have used it heavily, I had the problem 2 times on a different FW but never the current and haven't had the problem for a long time, thankfully.

Wish I could say the same but can't I have had this issue for a while, can't remember what version it started but every time I updated the firmware after that it never was fixed and happened quite a few times, fortunately it was through my HD600 and needlessly to say I had to yank them out real quick. I can only imagine to be a huge problem if it would have been my iems.

The problem is two folds; first it can be damaging to your ears and secondly it's random so you got no idea when to expect it.

I am just thankful that they fixed it.
