  Hello,

I'm a complete audiophile noob.  I just got the DX90, and it has firmware 2.0.0.  Sorry if I'm asking something that has already been answered; I've searched but didn't find the answer.

I am using a Macbook Pro and so far have only downloaded audio from HDTracks.

I haven't gotten a microSD card yet, but when I do, will it be better to plug the microSD card in my Mac and transfer files that way, or insert microSD card in DX90, plug DX90 into my Mac via USB then transfer that way?

Do I need to format anything specifically for Mac?

Thanks in advance

Also - don't use iTunes for anything when transferring - use "Finder" and look up the music - then drag and drop. If you want to use the internal memory of the DX - plug in the USB - drag to the DX90 icon that appears on the desktop... PM me if yo have any questions - I'm a noob with DAPs other than iDevices - so this was new to me...

EDIT: On a separate note - I got an email from iBasso stating there still is no eta on a driver for Mac so I can use the USB/DAC function on my DX90...

How hard can it be? My RSA Predator plugs in and just shows up as an option USB/DAC in my Sound menu... There certainly isn't a whole lot of computing power in this little blue box - it sounds great, though.

Guys, I just installed the mango drivers for the DX90 (digital signatures disabled) and the DX90 is not showing up anywhere when connected in USB DAC mode.

A little help?

I got the 64 bit driver working under Windows 8.1 for a couple of seconds. After that, no chance. Uninstalled and reinstalled the same way I did it the first time but no luck.
Disabling driver signature check in Win 8.1 works very very unreliable. Sometimgs I get an error message and can't re-install the driver. Sometimes it takes ages but no error messages,
sometimes it installs within a couple of seconds, no error messages. In any case, it doesn't work. What strikes me is that it worked for the first time but only for a couple of seconds.
I could select the sound device in Foobar2000 and play a music file. Anyone got more luck with Windows 8.1?

--- Edit ----
Got it working now.. Simply plugged into a different USB port and it installed everything automatically. Did this after booting into "non driver signature" mode.
Hope it still works after rebooting into normal mode.

--- Edit 2 ---

Seems it only works once for every USB port after rebooting into "no driver signature required" mode in Windows 8.1. Already bluescreened once and after reboot
it stopped working on this USB port. Feels very beta at the moment.

I emailed iBasso. On the slight lag in sound, this will be corrected in the update coming this week. All should work correctly from the information I received.

Hi everyone,

I've been reading these forums for quite a while and decided to finally register and post. Thanks to all for the wonderful advice given in this very long but very helpful thread. I've purchased the DX90 and I'm delighted with it.

I have a question regarding an IEM pairing with the DX90. I have three on my short list:

1) Grado GR10
2) NuForce Primo 8
3) Westone W40

I'd like to purchase an IEM for wear while on the go with the DX90. My main headphones are currently the Grado RS-1i, and I love the Grado sound. I listen to about 80% classical music and 20% classic rock/folk/etc. My budget for this item is about US$500 or so, but I'd be willing to go a little higher for something truly earth-shattering.

I've always used over-ear headphones and I've never purchased an IEM, so this will be a new experience for me. Thanks in advance for your help!  :)

Would the 64bit driver be signed also?  Or is that something they are waiting for Microsoft to do?

From what they said, it will require that the signature be disabled.

From what they said, it will require that the signature be disabled.

Which - from my experience with the beta on Windows 8.1 - requires to reboot into "disable driver signature requirement" mode every time you want to use the DX90.
Also for me it only works once on every USB port. For some reason I get the a driver error after rebooting and trying to use on the same USB port as before.
Looks like that driver still requires a bit of work, at least under Windows 8.1

Other than that, the DX90 sounds fantastic also as USB DAC via my B&O H6.

I personally am enjoying W40s with DX90. But I have an inkling for a 2nd IEM and have been considering the GR10 so be interested in asnyones comparisons. The lack of treble roll off, warmness or boosted bass sounds appealing.

Have the W40, is good with DX90...really like the JVC 850 and Sony H3 with it as well.

And, my iBasso sabre D-zero SE amp works beautifully as a dac with my mac; why can`t they just use the same architecture ?  (rhetorical question because I know there most likely is some perfectly logical reason that I don`t understand.  Still, I am not buying the dx90 until this is resolved )

The DX90 is different, for USB, because the software developed for it makes it show up different than a plug and play. So drivers have to be developed to go along with the custom software being used by the DX90. This is the explanation I got some time back from iBasso and makes sense to me, though I would like a driver for my Mac. :^).

Hey Guys, Sorry for the stupid question .. but I haven't been able to figure out how to access the battery in my DX90. I'd really appreciate it if someone could post pictures !

Thanks :)

I think that someone once said that the only really stupid question is the one you don't ask

...

No pictures I'm afraid, and I seem to recall Jamato8 having a post in which he detailed how he opened the case (which is quite stiff at the beginning, and not really the most easy one to open), but I cannot seem to find it, so here's how I do open the case to access the battery (essentially based on what Jamato8 advised):

1) turn your DX90 upside down (HO and LO facing up), and with the screen facing away from you (back facing you)
2) handle with both hands, with your 2 thumbs below the line which you can see at around 2 cm down the top (just below the writing) at about center
3) press, and slide the cover down, exercising some strength on both operations - the case slides down and opens
4) battery inside

5) to take out battery, best way may be to turn DX90 down and tap the bottom (part with writing) on the palm of your hand

Hope that should do, even without pictures
