The mid bass boost via line out on the x3? I don't follow the x3 thread but that doesn't sound right. I think it's the amp with the bass boost. The typical fiio house sound but I could be wrong. That's a pretty crappy dac implementation if it has a bass boost via line out.

The X3's mid-bass frequencies are noticeabley boosted.  It's actually even worse through the line out, so it's definitely not coming from the headphone amp stage.

If you guys wanted all those features, why not go for the FiiO x5?

Wonder how a small, rockboxed 50-70$ player with proper coax out and mediocre DAC/amp would sell.. That'd be interesting.

sansa is good but even after rockbox the bass boost is mediocre and affects the mids.this is my only problem with it.

if fiio could put a dac with comparable audio quality to clip with better bass control that will make it a winner.

What amp did you pair it with?

The screen does seem slightly disintegrated.
