hope so , we have to control the margin for us and our agents, at the same time , not to control the the cost for the parts, that is why we can provide the first $100 high resolution DAP in the world , with individual DAC and headphone amp.

James, AMAZING job with X1!!!  I thought to give it a week of testing before posting my review, but last night when I opened a box and start playing with it, I couldn't put it down and rushed with my first impression review and comparison to X5 (a few pages up, also in my signature link).  As you can see, the only "negative" comment I had was a black silicone skin where I couldn't see charging light.  Everything else is PERFECT!!!  And it pairs up so well with E11k

One word...WOW

Just don't let your gf see it, cause you will end up back with your X3 while she will take away your X1.  Of course, it will be a step up from your pink mp3 player, but trust me - you want X1 :)  Actually, just spray paint black silicone skin with pink color to hide it from her

About the sound quality.  I did a quick a/b comparison between X1 and X5 using ATH-IM03 and Havi B3 Pro I, and also with Line Out and E11k.  Using HO, I didn't sense any extra coloration, the sound was relatively neutral, a bit warm, and linear in characteristics as you raise the volume.  It looks like X1 has a single gain setting, and I noticed that using either of these IEMs required volume level on average 10 ticks lower than with X5 in its default low gain setting.  For those who are familiar with B3 Pro I, you know it benefits from extra amping.  Here, I was able to drive it without a sweat at about half volume setting.  Regarding HO sound quality comparison between these DAPs, you can rest assure that X1 is not X5 killer.  But at the same time, the difference is not really night'n'day.  X5 sound is a little more detailed, warmer, with more body, and a wider soundstage.  But X1 is not lagging behind by too much.  This difference becomes even less apparent when you switch to LO with external amp.  Using E11k with X1, you get more details and wider soundstage, and the sound gets warmer with a deeper and more extended low end.  In comparison, with X5 LO + E11k you still hear a little better performance, but the gap is closer.

X5 is warmer? or X1?

I hope penon audio will have it soon after release, they ship worldwide within a couple of days and good customer feedbacks

Oh yes, PenonAudio would be great too. Prices are in USD, so for me, it would be a bit more in CAD, but no tax :D Plus, shipping is pretty damn quick. I ordered a pair of Havi B3 on the 13th, shipped on the 16th and it's already in Canada.

I thought the whole thing with the X1 was that it was designed to be warmer than both the X3 and X5?
