This hobby becomes dangerous isn't it? Stealing and all

J/K, of course go for it especially if you can hear the differences between batteries

Are you going to get a DX50 already!?

I have been using my DX50 with the D12 and Just got hold of Top Flight kit today from HiFlight. First impression is sound stage is a lot bigger and has more bass and detail. Will have to spend some more time listening to it. Using wit JH13Pro. If this holds true I'll be selling my HM-901.

Wow...which 901 card are you using?

Hi, if there is such thing as burning in for the DX50 as suggested at least 200 hours by iBasso. May I ask, if I've playing and hooking up with the line out with and external amp, since the player is just playing anyway, does it actually burning in the amp section too? Can some experts here please confirm.

I don't think so, considering you're bypassing the whole amp section by only using the Line Out.

My samsung battery came and just did some ab ab comparisons. . Yes the samsung battery sound better. Bass is tighter n extend further. Soundstage is wider. I check both battery voltage both same same. Althought from dx50 battery level the samsung is lower but it sound so much effortless compare to original pisen batrery from ibasso

When you say "Battery Level" you mean measured voltage or the battery indicator inside the DX50. Measuring the voltage outside shouldn't make a difference in sound, since the Pisen battery is based on the Samsung battery. When a friend's DX50 get in here, i think we'll do some A/B testing of our own...

No mate, I am still on the "saving money" phase. I haven't decided yet. DX50 is a serious contender of course but I am also interested in FiiO X5 or 240 gb iPod Classic + Hifi M8 options too. Depends on how much money I will be able to save and how long I can resist. If I get DX50, I will be looking for an amp too I know. Probably the same will also happen with X5 too. So for the moment, I am waiting only. If ZX1 gets a lot of nice reviews, I can even consider it too but it's amp section seems to be quite weak so that one will also need something with it like PHA 2 etc.

It is hard to be an audiophile and poor student both in the same time.

My current rig is an Ipod Classic + Hifi-M8. So far I'm very satisfied with this setup especially that M8 can drive full-size headphones like the T1. However, the Ipod can only play up to 16/44.1 files and M8 really shines playing hi res file. Clearly the Ipod is no match with my desktop setup of MBP+Bitperfect -> Hifi-M8 -> T1.

Centrance is working hard to bring 24-bit playback support on Ipod + M8 combo.

I have a DX50 coming. Then I can compare how good it is. The Ipod + M8 combo can be a bit huge for a portable setup sometimes. If DX50 can at least match or surpass it then I'll be very happy since it's going to make my portable stack even more portable.

M8 is a great game changer but even though Head-Fi created it, they somehow choose optical instead of coaxial and now we can't link it with daps like DX50, X3 or X5 etc. Only overpriced AK series can do it or bulky DX100/R10. I already bugged Centrance about a new M8 version with coaxial input but it won't happen in the near future apparently.

To be honest, I so want to have M8 in my setup but I am not going to get AK dap just because of it. iTouch has a very small capacity the only option for me is a half dead iPod Classic. Even though it doesn't play high res, I think for on to go, my ears will be okay.

Or.... I can get X5 or DX50 and pair a good old portable amp from line out/in and my stack won't be huge like M8. Then I will have to skip M8, which makes me sad because I really wish to get it.

So many options, so few money

Either M8 adds a coax input or DX50 does digital out through USB. I am hoping for the later a possibility with future FW update.

While on this topic I'm thinking if there is a coax to USB connector/converter that will allow DX50 to send digital signal to M8.

If there is any chance to use DX50 or X5 with M8 (like the methods you explained), I look no further. I am all down and settled

Oops.
Just ordered my dx50 last night, and assumed it would output through USB.  I guess I didn`t research enough.... I was dead set on the M8 . . .
If this is true, that the dx50 only outputs digital through coax, then I too am very keen to learn if there is a USB-coax connect  . . .

I ordered one from IBasso last nite too. A week to wait till it ships... I guess that gives me time to sort out the storage and amp issue:D

I think I will go without amp at first tho. Too much bulk...

Speaking of bulk, looks like we need more rubber bands:
