Finally I ordered a DX50 to MP4NATION. It will come with the Brainwavz R3, and here is my dilema. I could sell it and buy another IEM. Do you think the Brainwavz R3 pairs nicely with the DX50?. I’m a litle bit concerned the DX50 is cold and lacks of dynamism. Currently my Sansa Clip and the EPH-100 are funny to listen to electronic or dubstep, but I’m not so happy for jazz (mainly saxo) or classic. I expect a big change with the DX50, but I would appreciate your suggestions to select a nice IEMs. I was thinking to buy a GR07 Bass Edition (although it exceeds my budget).

How do you know what the DX50 sounds like if you've never heard it? Granted yes, its a rather neutral DAP, but I wouldn't say cold. And I'm not sure what dynamism is...

Those kinds of questions/comments are scary in that they purport ideas that aren't true or even based on personal experience.

I have been using my DX50 with the D12 and Just got hold of Top Flight kit today from HiFlight. First impression is sound stage is a lot bigger and has more bass and detail. Will have to spend some more time listening to it. Using wit JH13Pro. If this holds true I'll be selling my HM-901.

The DX50 is the only thing that I have given a 5 star to for any review after I just updated all my reviews. It is just wonderful sounding.

JoeDoe, you are right; I haven't listened them. I only have some doubts based on the hundred of impresions that I have read in the forums. Surely the best term is what you said: neutral. And some people associates neutral with boring, but I haven't enough experience to confirm if it has sense. That's it. But I'm looking forward to listem them!!.
Sorry if could cause confusion.

IMO Neutral is the wrong word to describe the DX50, Neutral to me implies flat sound, ie uncolored sound, coupled with balanced sound, that is how I would describe the AK100.
Cold, again does not describe the DX50 at all, Cold implies analytical sound, ie extreme separation and detail retrieval, coupled with a neutral sound.
You could however say the DX50 is balanced alone though, ie there is no emphasis on a certain part of the frequency range, to me however there is some coloration, the DX50 does add a little extra energy to the whole sound spectrum, which many people will like. Most people who have the DX50 will probably agree that it strikes a very nice balance between fun and colored sound vs neutral and analytical sound. The DX50 doesn't tilt all the way in one direction, it is just right in the middle, that's why if I had to pick one word to describe the DX50 it would be balanced, as the DX50 is balanced in several different ways.

Would I need to buy an amp for my W4R earphones with the DX50? Currently I have the D-Zero; but I was looking at getting the new Leckerton UHA760. Does the DX have cross feed? Thanks.

The DX50 works just fine without an amp but if you want to amp it, the new Leckerton amp should most likely be fantastic, I would wait though to get his version with coax in so you could use the DX50 as a transport.

Crossfeed is one thing I miss from Rockbox moving over to the DX50. It's not a biggie - I don't use it with the KAEDE or FAD 160x IEMs anyway - but with the Heaven VI a good crossfeed makes the sound quite 3-dimensional. I too have a curious eye on the UHA760 or the coaxial version purported to follow. We will see how good the amp section is.

Due so several requests by owners, iBasso changed the names on the EQ. Now the names are for the requested action, for example if it says "On" that means touch the menu bar to turn the EQ on. When you see "Off", that means when you touch the bar, it will turn EQ off. No matter which way it is labelled, it would be confusing until one understands the rationale. Maybe instead of On and Off, they could just label it "EQ" and have it orange for On and dark for Off.

I have noticed that is the trend in UI design lately.  It is definitely the opposite of what almost everyone has used in the past.  I must say I kinda like the method of labeling the button for what happens when you activate it.  It grows on you.

I know I've heard the BH2 is highly regarded with the DX50, which is why I ordered it but I'm also curious what other amps above that price range are highly regarded pairing with it.

I am using 1.2.2.

Yesterday the DX50 made that computery screech/squeal that everyone has heard at one time or another, and then went black and unresponsive.  I had to take the battery out and then it worked.

Today my coax wouldn't work right after powering up (it was playing through the HO, though.)  After 5 mins of isolating components I decided it was the DX50.  I did a factory reset and it is working again.

It's anxiety provoking, because my first thought is 1) great, I have to send it back to China, and 2) am I going to have any warranty problems.

I definitely could live without all the drama the DX50 injects into my life.  Then again, it is the most awesome portable device I have ever owned.

It is definitely one of the best sounding DAP. I do not care much to compare which sounds the best or by judging how others comment which sounds the best because it is just so subjective. What I can confirm this player is a true gem to me, especially for the price range. I'm writing this purely based on line out though. I'm not a big fan with the phone out though because the line out with my Quickstep and my CIEM is just so much more superior to the headphone out which makes it totally pointless to me. Unless I go extreme portable, the headphone out still sound pretty well to me, but again, definitely much more inferior to the line out.

Hi, if there is such thing as burning in for the DX50 as suggested at least 200 hours by iBasso. May I ask, if I've playing and hooking up with the line out with and external amp, since the player is just playing anyway, does it actually burning in the amp section too? Can some experts here please confirm.
