The iBasso DX50 Thread - Latest firmware: 1.9.5 - June 30, 2016

Just an FYI guys, I bought this to pair with my Shure SE846, after I had already bought the Fiio X3, but couldn't get the X3 to properly recognize ALAC track tags. I just got it a couple of days ago. I loaded up the latest firmware 1.2.8. I have had two instances with the volume spiking and have also had the unit hard lock randomly just by picking it up. I also hear loud hissing in any of the gain settings, although it gets better with higher gain. This thing seemed to have alot of potentital versus the Fiio X3, the UI actually function properly unlike the Fiio, but I am not going to take the chance of damaging my $1000 IEM's with it. My goal is to not use an amp with the SE846 and high res DAP. I may bite the bullet and get the HM-901, as everyone considers it one of the best if not the best.

AAC and ALAC support was the deciding factor in choosing the DX50 over the x3 for me. I have not had any issues or problems as you described. You should send your unit back as you clearly have a defective player. Where did you purchase it from?

I've listened to m dx50 for probably 30 hours or more per week since I got it in December of last year, so probably safely 350-400+ hours and I have never experienced a volume spike, then some people like y2j have it happen out of the box...Has anyone with this issue put another music library in and tested the player? (like a totally different card with completely different files) Im curious if this is hardware or software related. It would seem to be software to me, but Im curious if anyone has done any process of elimination cause identification

Hey Friends
Someone tried to compare the dx50 for samsung galaxy s3
And could tell me how much sound quality difference, and is it worth to pay  $ 200 for dx50 only to get his sound upgrate?

(I know I asked a few people here but I want to hear more opinions)

Have the S4. No contest. The DX50 for the price is silly for the quality you get in construction and sound. Anyway, there is no way I find them to compare except the S4 does put out a sound, the DX50 plays music.

Hello have you ever brought the player out of the house and walked around with it like in a city? These problems always seem to occur when the player is mobile? I am afraid to walk with it when it is in my jacket pocket? Also it seems to happen when the player is in shuffle mode.

I assume you turn the lock switch on while in your pocket. I never have any problems even with a tight pocket. Only weird things happen when I forgot to turn on the lock switch and put it in my pocket.

I got it from Amazon.com, through the seller ProStudio Sound & Music. I am sending it back tomorrow, already contacted them with the issues. I have the HM-901 en route and should have it tomorrow as well. I'll let you know how they compare for me...

Reason i ask is it seems that the majority of units experiancing problems were purchased from retailers other than ibasso direct. Dont know what it means , just a observation.

So FW 1.2.9 (or 1.3.0 or whatever's next) is supposed to fix the volume spike issue for anyone concerned. I forget if this has been stated already, but good to reiterate

Hi DX50 owners, can anyone tell me the maximum capacity of memory card supported by DX50? And does it support full size SD card, or only MicroSD like the X3? Thanks.
