On another note, my computer will not recognize the DX50. I have had to take the microsd out, load music and then put it in the dx50. I haven't been able to update firmware or load music just by connecting. Anyone run into this??

I'm sure you did this but do you have the DX50 on when its plugged in to the USB. It will not recognize the device if it is off.

Dos anyone know what the DX50 is doing during its initial start scan when powered up? 
 
Is it just loading the database it built during the long initial scan when a new card is inserted?

Glad to help, this is really easy to update, i actually updated mine today to 1.2.2 from 1.2.0. Took 5 minutes.

Has anyone purchased a actual ibasso DX50 case? I see one in the pictures but can not find it for sale anywhere. Also Ibasso's website has been down all day.

Yes Jaben Hong Kong is selling the case in 4 coulours (red,blue,black,pink if not mistaken).I got my DX50 there together with the case at the same time
 
Last night I updated the firmware to 1.2.5 and it is awesome! Don't really notice the difference with 1.2.2 in SQ wise as I'm a newbie, but what do I notice straight away is the memory card scanning is in lightning speed! It was turned off after factory reset, plugged in the SD Card, turned on, and seems like no scanning at all! I went to directory and yes it is updated! Tried to play a single file and it did media scanning but only last like 3-4 seconds and good to go.
 
Touch screen sensitivity also ok (no problem with scrolling) and load very fast between screen to screen.
Satisfied!

Calling all re400 owners! The issue has been brought up saying the hifiman re400 and dx50 do not have good synergy. I just got the dx50 and I am not liking what I am hearing.

Before I go and buy different IEM's though, I wanted to find out if the sound I am hearing is because of poor synergy or maybe I just don't like the dx50. I currently only have the re400 since I sold all my other headphones.

To me, there is transparency lacking with the re400/dx50. Vocals do not seem as intimate as I have heard using other sources.

Is this the same thing other people are hearing? Please let me know. Thanks!

Yes the sound is congested out of the DX50 to the Re400s and it doesn't sound much better using my PB2 to amp. I've heard the re400s sound good out of different set ups so it must be the synergy

i'm hesitant to get the silicone case too, i believe the 3m dual lock adhesives won't stick properly to them...on to leather cases!

$8 + shipping isn't exactly a bargain for low quality silicone. 
 
If FiiO could package the X3 with a free silicone case, then why couldn't iBasso do the same with the DX50?

another thing to count in with silicone is, it's pretty hard to insert in/pull out from your jeans pocket. a bit sticky
