The iBasso DX50 Thread - Latest firmware: 1.9.5 - June 30, 2016

Well, I got my DX50 today. Simply gorgeous, taking it out of the box. And after, of course! I ordered from MP4 Nation, so I got the R3 headphones, but I'm not sure when I'll spare the patience of trying those. Kind of finicky, but some people seem to love them.

The sound of the player though. Wow. It just sounds magical. The music seems to flow effortlessly from this baby. Makes you feel one with the music.

Going to write down a list of the small bugs and issues I notice. Nothing major or even close to it, but I'm sure it'll help iBasso make the UI even more perfect.

Just a quick note to anyone who is still hesitating to buy this. Stop! Don't wait one more minute. If you can spare the money, then just get it. It is an amazing deal for the price, even if it costs several hundred more.

Ordered from mp4nation and didn't get a warranty card. Before ordering I had contacted iBasso & mp4nation and both confirmed that warranty would be honor by mp4nation.

yes, i assume your purchase invoice is a warranty, so you will need to send to mp4nation and they deal with iBasso or you ask them if you should send to iBassso, in every case invoice will be equal your warranty.

That's how I thought it should be but just to put it out and get some feedbacks to confirm it. Thank you guys for chipping in.

Anyway, I have experience that the player become pretty warm while it's charging and a little warm when I put it inside my pocket when playing. I have asked on the bugs thread and will appreciate maybe you guys could leave a feedback regarding this.

Thanks again.

is anyone getting any response from service@ibasso.com regarding bugs? My unit is seriously an attention whore. I am exclusively playing using Directory mode and all my songs are organized in /artist/album folder structure. It either stop playing at the end of an album and have no way to configure it to continue to play next album and i have to manually select the next album myself. Or, it jumps to first song in first album of Kenny G's folder. No other song, no other album, just that particular Kenny G song. iBasso people have a fetish for Kenny G or what?

Today I got presented with my new treat to pair with the dx50... my Klipsch Status headphones I preordered came in the mail.  I am in awe.  Beautiful.  Having a hard time removing them from my head, sounds so nice.

Also have the Klipsch x10 IEMs which are the most comfortable IEMs I've ever used thus far, and those also sound amazing.  Though it's interesting to note the sound difference between IEMs and over ear headphones, I've been using IEMs for so long.  Haven't heard a decent pair of over ear headphones in a good while, mostly because every time I try them I am extremely disappointed.  I blame Sennheiser for this, as recommended as they were I tried them twice.  The first pair of headphones I got from them were so horrible I gave them away to someone for free.  Second pair I still have but never ever use.  Done giving them my money.

Klipsch nailed it though.

On an unrelated note, my dx50 froze a couple more times on the 1.2.3 beta.  Once again for unpausing a paused track, it'd play for a second and freeze up requiring reboot.  The other freeze up was when it wasn't doing anything at all, just sitting idle at a menu screen and it froze.  Lol.  So it has now froze 4 times, but neither has been from regular music playback.  Just at random other times, such as right after unpausing tracks, doing nothing, or freezing at the shut down screen.  Hoping the final 1.2.3 straightens this out as it is really almost perfect...

There's the problem. You've infected your device with Kenny G.

Way less detrimental than a C. Dion or a Bieber infection....those two are terminal

I made a new battery pack for the fi.Quest amp using low dissipation batteries and the sound improved over an already great amp. The combination of the fi.Q and the DX50 is excellent. Extreme power, beautiful harmonics, very black background and very transparent.

I enjoy Kenny G a lot, if it is an infection, then i am not asking for any medication. Problem is the same song keeps on popping up almost every time an album (any album) finish, which tends to irritate me. Or the player is so smart to know I like Kenny G, that is why it is playing my favourite tune automatically?? eemm...........

and forgot to tell, mp3nation throws in BR3 IEMs which are absolutely worth and are a great gift absolutely worth waiting.
i must admit i will not use them so i gave them to my daughter and she absolutely loves them, i had short listen and can only say good words too. Absolutely great gift even if you have IEMs.

I can't get the BR3 to stay in my ears. Now that I have the dx50 I am in a serious need for an iem upgrade.  I have the re400 now and they aren't that bad but do have trouble with congested tracks.

IMHO BR3 was not meant to be an IEM for DX50, for me BR3 is nice IEM for only casual listening with Cowon or iPod. but i meant for a gift at no cost BR3 is nice. surely if you want proper sound you replace them with better IEMs, no doubt.

...thats how play-by-folder works. When it's done with a folder, it stops playing. You might want to look into the database options... I love play-by-artist

Ahh after a month of owning the dx50 I just have made my mind up And probably will be selling it… great DAP but is it possible to truly appreciate high fidelity everywhere we go ? I actually caught myself getting 100% lost in the Music when i came Back home.Maybe it is wiser to create a better desktop rig , and buy open headphones … ehh I wish I knew i Would come to such conclusions before spending the money ;D And now I will have to spend money again for the desktop gear ;D God my wallet is begging me for mercy , just Wanted to share those thoughts as a head-fier

So you bought the DX50 expecting good sound, got good sound but thought it was a waste using it portable. Why not just keep it as your desktop/portable if you enjoy the hifi sound at home.

I've been using Rockboxed Clip+ for a few years and my personal expectation is that it should move to the next album. Of course, configurable. Not sure if that is a fair expectation. What about others who are spoilt by rockbox??

Have you tried using the database instead? It really does work quite well.
