@yotzpetra why don't you use the rkbatchtool and start over, this will put the factory settings on there and after you do the batchtool you put your favorite FW on, takes about ten minutes for all.

Yes, I'm currently trying to do that however I have yet to have knowledge doing it :frowning2:
do you happen to know step by step of how do I flash the OS with rockchip batch tool? I've downloaded the v1.7 along with the driver but I have no idea where to look next..
thanks!

EDIT: nop I actually couldn't find the RK292X driver.. I'm using windows 8

It was about more than a month ago when they said "within 2 weeks". Haha.

EDIT: Hopefully they'll release drivers for both 32 and 64 bit as a reward for our patience

Every 2 weeks we have to wait another 2 weeks lol.  Pretty sure it's been like a month like 2 months since the first time someone said about 2 weeks.  like, supposed to be released the beginning of last month.  then two weeks into last month.  then two more weeks to the end of the month.  then two more weeks to the middle of this month.  now two more weeks to the end of the month.

Eventually we may get the new firmwares, lol.  :)

Oh my God I think my DX50 just bricked..

Just curious if anyone else has had a new dx50 completely brick with the 1.28 firmware without any fiddling?

I had a brand new dx50 that I had an hours use out off, went back to it in the evening and was completely and utterly dead, not charging, not recognised - nothing, just a roasting hot battery.

Very very strange.

Happy to say that he replacement was issued rapidly and the new player has had no issues in a couple of days but I have noticed that my w4r are picking up some hiss which wasn't apparent on the previous player.

Okay so I've somehow restore and get it back to work with DOC's custom firmware.
here's the list of my problem:
1. I've downloaded rkbatchtool but it won't detect the DX50, somehow I'm unable to find the RK292X driver in the internet.
2. When I tried to install the Sound Explosion custom firmware(currently Mega Explosion) through update menu in setting, it'll reboot and direct me back to CWM-based recovery menu. There's one line saying E:Invalid command argument
3. When I installed rockbox and try to boot up the Mega Explosion through Mango, the UI is really messy. It's like lagged solitaire where UI component duplicate when you try to scroll the screen.

Any help would be really, really appreciated.
thank you!

Make sure you follow the directions on the rkbatchtool, this is a cure all for anything short of you breaking it with a sledgehammer. This was sent to me from iBasso as a means to restore it to factory regardless of sitituation, even bricked which is where you are.

The RKbatchtool is not listed on the iBasso>Downloads site.  I did a Google search and found quite a few, but none at iBasso.  I assume (you know what that makes me) that Howdy specifically asked iBasso for it.

Personally, I'd stick with the stock firmware.  Unless you like freaking yourself out and want to do it again.

I installed Rockbox on mine, didn't like it, and removed it.  Which took a bit of doing, as the directions are really not step-by-step clear re reinstalling the Stock Recovery.  However, I did do it successfully.  I also tried one of the custom firmwares, found it  not to my liking, and removed it, a much easier undertaking, as it is just a matter of reinstalling a stock firmware over it.    However, the DX90-based firmware, from what I've read, is a bit more difficult to replace.  With a new firmware on the horizon it seems the thing to do is wait for it to drop before trying something else that may cause you to go into another episode of  "I bricked my DX50."

I personally find rockbox sounds the best (very flat, detailed with great instrument separation with slightly soundstage shrunk) and I manage to figure out what to do if I happen to brick it again (lol)
nevertheless the panic is worth for heart exorcise XD

Ah, I didn't know that someone posted about this a few weeks ago. Was a bit curious on how things are going back there in iBasso. Hopefully everything goes well and they'll update us with the new firmware soon. :)

well, couple of things happend:

- OTG section isn't going away even when unplugged
- sometimes screen when starting the device stays black, and i have tu push on the "ON" button to get the screen back
- songs on the OTG device are like ghost files, the dx50 shows them on the screen as if they were playingm but another song is playing

it's a bit like having a drunk device
