The iBasso DX50 Thread - Latest firmware: 1.9.5 - June 30, 2016
Apr 29, 2014 at 12:56 AM Post #12,873 of 18,652
Just an update for anyone anxiously awaiting news about the USB-DAC functionality... I emailed iBasso about another question, but also asked about the next firmware.
Get your hopes up, because their response was:

"Yes, we will release the USB-DAC driver for the DX50 after 2~3 weeks."

No problem,
Thanks for this my friend.

but how would you describe the sound of of the hd558 with the dx50? Thank you again in advance.

No problem man, The sound of the HD558 plus the Dx 50 DAC really gives you a broader soundstage and alot of clarity but it also depends on what kinda music u listen to, because the HD558 lacks bass and the DX 50 sound leans more towards clarity but also has a darker background which is somewat of Sennheiser's sound signature as well.

How is the firmware right now on the DX50? I remember when it first came out there are many who complained about it, stuttering, unable to read and such. Has this been rectified?

Thanks a lot. :)) but I am worried about the volume spike issue. I just want to know if you personally experience this already?

Don't have to worry about the spike cause I have never experiance it myself as a matter of fact the overall sound is a very laid back one, I prefered this over my tipleFi10 IEM whcih is sonically superior but was far too analytical for me whereas the HD 558 has a better musical presentation of music. This is an excellent pair up, I still use it when i am travelling in a bus between states even though I have the HD650 and triple and my disposal.

Just received 2 Sandisk 64Gb Micro SD Cards for my DX50 (which also arrived today).....just spent the last 4 hours trying to copy over 20 HiRes FLAC Albums to find out that only 4 of them have copied correctly. Most of them aren't even appearing on the card....I get the artist name, but then no album details or track details. When I try and copy the album on again it tells me the file already exists......but it doesn't show up on the PC and doesn't show up if I put the card in the DX50!

I've tried to copy them from my external hard drive onto the SD Card using the PC Card Reader......Why the Hell does it take so long anyway (it told me something like 20 hours to copy 50GB)!!! The card is formatted to FAT32 and I know the albums are all OK because I had them on an a card previously and they worked perfectly.

Sometimes I realise why I really like the Apple infrastructure.

Format them into exFat, i have no problem with mine at all. just drag the flacs inside with an sd reader on my mac mini
I turn on the dx50 before insert the sd so it can "see it" and prompt you for a full scan, its very quickly

Oh I meant to share with everyone. I've been listening to my music using the "All Music" option and I have music on my internal memory, SD card and an OTG connected 128GB USB key and music was random across all 3 storage source. I know for sure that was not possible on previous version of the firmware but 1.2.8 just work good.
