1st, Awesome and Thanks!

2nd, Does this keep the FW you already have installed? I like the Doc2008 1.2.2 and would prefer to keep it if possible. Does Rockbox overwrite the original FW with anything? if so, what?

The image I've posted is based on stock 1.2.8 firmware. Yes, standard player will work exactly as in 1.2.8.
There are some possible ways for enabling partial updates, will arrange some of them soon.

i got it to boot back from rockbox to the original firmware, but can't seem to get it to go from original to rockbox (i used power + vol down)
other than that, very promising. keep at it! donating soon.

another bug to note, on reboot or after changing theme, the rockbox does not remember the set volume, it plays it at max until you either increase or decrease the volume.

A few things.

I seem to be unable to get it to switch from Rockbox to Mango. Shut down, hold Vol-, Hold Power... boots into Rockbox and then sits there for a while, eventually restarts and reloads Rockbox.

The Playlists directory is on /data which is normal for Rockbox on Android but this isn't easily accessible on DX50. It should probably be changed or linked to /sdcard/Playlists. I've had success with one attempt creating a symlink and pushing a m3u8 playlist up with adb. Bonus: /sdcard isn't wiped with a firmware install.

Holding the FF and RW buttons doesn't repeat in menus.

i found that to switch from either firmware, press voldown first and then power and let go. it will then reboot after a while.

Thanks to you and anyone helped to make this port,

I will test it as soon as i can,

Any news about battery performance, rockbox on ipod used to consume battery too fast ?

The port is quite stable and allows easy switching rockbox <-> mango.
The install process is really too complicated for ordinary users yet, but safe enough.

Yes, it does not affect recovery, you can always reboot holding vol+ and install original firmware back.
Or go with rkbatchtool and reflash even if you somehow manage to break recovery.

I'm working right now on easier install process, can't get CWM running on dx50 yet.

Btw, will the USB OTG function work in rockbox?

Thanks for this very cool port happening for the DX50. I'll wait until it's somewhat stable to check it out. Love it on the Clip Zip.

Just installed RB FW. When I go to Database, appears it only indexed the files from the internal storage /sdcard and not the external card /mnt/external_sd.

How do I force it to read the external SD so it also index the files in the external SD.

One more thing holding volume - & power button seems to only reboot DX50 to RB not the original FW
