The iBasso DX50 Thread - Latest firmware: 1.9.5 - June 30, 2016

Due to my stubbornness, I updated to 1.2.2 using the Rkbatch tool and again experience hang ups. However, with a stuck of luck, I got curious about the playlist function.

First, I put some George Winston album to a 64gb sandisk class 10 microsd. Removed the embedded album art. Set the brightness to 30 and APO to never. Play mode as loop and hapless to 5secs

Experienced hangs and shutdowns. So I tried to make a playlist of one track. Now It played continuously without hangs. With a single playlist, I tried to play an album (by accessing Album, play) no hangs for now.

For those experiencing hangs, try to make a playlist and see if it still hangs.

Mine was half full and took 10 minutes. I suggest you leave your power management setup to 30 minutes before shutdown or better still set it to never and then reset when done else it won't finish the scan. I would think between 20 to 30 minutes max.

Great! Thanks. I was still wondering why is it stuck there...

You are a tough and determine fella if you can put up with the hangs I would have given up a while ago and send the unit back for a replacement. Are you sure you want to go on like that with a possibly defective unit? As an aside, can you easily create a folder list with say just some flac files in a few and proper tag stuff including the embedded artwork with file size not greater than 40 characters and make it work without hangs? If not then please return this lemon! :D

I'll try it later and load ten albums with embedded art:) just want to make sure to try everything and also partly want to understand how the software works, don't want to send back a unit because I possibly just had a bad FW update.

Totally agree with you but at one point when the effort surpasses the pleasure and turns into pain then it's time to drop the towel and send it back. :L3000:

One more thing tell them (iBasso) you are returning the unit, you have 14 days according to their website so I would book my return before it's over.

I only had my 7th batch DX50 for 3 days now and and continuously running it. It only stops playing when it's charging. I have been trying all 3 gain switches. So far no lock ups. I also brought my DX50 while jugging and did not notice any problems.

The RE400s sound brilliant out of the box with no burn in required. Out if my desktop setup or just the iphone4s it great. It must be the DX50s

Not the same experience here: The re-400 sounded pretty bland, not much better than a cheap pair or earbuds, out of the box, with my former (cheap) mp3 player. (Of course, I can't tell how much of the improvement comes from the bad mp3 player vs. the ibasso, or the mp3 files vs. flac files, or the burn-in of around 50 hours that I did in between... Well, I did also try the re-400 out of the box directly plugged at home on my marantz cd5004 (cd player), and it also sounded quite bland, although clearer already than with the cheap mp3s player...)

I haven't played around with many multi cd albums yet, but the ones on my sd card play correctly. I used Mp3tag for tagging after using foobar to rip the albums to FLAC and simply denoted them as disc number/total discs (such as 1/2, 2/2) in the discnumber field (as the format defaults to). My song titles go by the "track number - title" format with leading zeros on the single digit tracks and the songs show up back to back in the order of the discs under the single album.

Thanks! I did the "disc number/total discs" thing already, which brought no change. But I didn't do the leading zeros on single digit tracks yet. I'll try that for the cases where I really don't want to convert multi-disc albums to single-disc albums...

You can plug it in to a USB charger and it'll keep playing while charging :)

How long does it takes to scan a 64GB card which is 95% full?

It takes mine about 25 minutess to fully scan my nearly full 64 gb card. FWIW, iBasso said that the auto power off is disabled during a card scan. This was added in a previous update.
