The iBasso DX50 Thread - Latest firmware: 1.9.5 - June 30, 2016

I feel this 5th batch sound warm side rather than muddy.  However, this is just out of the box.  I need to let it play for awhile.

Wondering why mine so slow? It was registered and tracking number was given on last Friday, yet I called DHL yesterday, DHL had not actually got the item from the seller despite it was only registered. And only till today, Tuesday, I only start receiving tracking notification that the item only picked up and being processed in the sender location facilities

And that is my finished:

iBasso DX50 24-192 DAT/DAP, with coax connection to...

iBasso DB2 Boomslang2, Portable Balanced 24Bit/192kHz DAC, feeding balanced line level to...

iBasso PB2 Pelican, Portable Balanced Headphone Amp with Hiflight Topkit, sending balanced output to...

Beyer Dynamic DT 990 Premium 600 OHM Headphones, rewired to accept balanced input

Energizer XP8000AB Universal Power Pack with laptop adapter sending 16v to PB2

It sounds great!  I really can't compare because this is my first portable equipment.  It is replacing my Android phone for music playback.

The only reason I went balanced is that the PB2 has a much higher voltage swing when operated in balanced mode.  BTW, if I did it over I would get 32 ohm cans  running single ended..  My stack would be 2 pieces instead of 4.

LOLz. What a portable rigs. Hope they fit well in the pocket :D

Great rig!

Hello from another DB2/PB2 user! I agree with you about balance output. For iem use, I also prefer to use the single-ended especially for sensitive iem like TG!334.

I only use balance for HD650. With this setup, I am reluctant to use DX50 alone...

The beautiful thing about PB2 is that even when taking single input from my HM901, the beautiful sound gets amplified via the balance output to the HD650 to make them sound righteous.

Enjoy!

Upon opening I noticed that it was opened and resealed, I'm assuming that customs opened it. I also noticed that the sleeve on the outside of the box was gone. All is good though as the sound is amazing paired with my vsonic gr07 be is a great combo. I have not tried it with my other headphones yet. When I put my 64 gb with approximately 2000 songs in 16/44.1 it scanned it within 5 minutes and all was good.

Thanks Rudi :D

You are welcome

Rudi, you ruined my sleep, lovely setups and thanks for comparing.

If forget ak120 how would you say dx50 worth taking a plunge? i have rwak and think about ak120 so i wonder of having these will make dx50 redundant?

Dx 50 is very good DAP for the Price to 300 USD
Dx 50 is more flexible , has line out , hp out and coax out , that you can do more experience with your external Dac and Amp .

If you like simple and pure dap , than from the SQ is ak 120 your choice.

Thanks Rudi.

You are welcome Lin

Received my DX50 today and it sounds amazing paired with my new Sennheiser HD25s. Thanks to the people at Head-fi for the recommendations and answers to my questions. I'm coming from a Gen 7 iPod Classic and crappy Skull Candy ear buds, so this is heavenly. Like so many others have written on here, I can hear things in my music that I never knew existed - instruments that I didn't know were there, sounds coming from different directions and the (now) audible breath a singer sometimes takes before launching into a tune. This is great stuff!

Is there a max recommended charging amperage? Will charging through the usb cable at 1500mA be alright?

The player similar to a mobile phone should only draw the required amps needed for charging, It shouldn't matter whether you use 500mah or 2amp

Many members have reported using 2 amp chargers, I just use a Samsung S2 wall charger.

@CorwinGraves, welcome to the club, I own HD25 too, last night I build my headphone cable using Cardas cable, paired with DX50, man you should try it, its sound better than stock hd25 cable...

Bad news. My dx50 has completely died. I charged it up at work and all seemed okay. On the way home from work I put it on and after a few seconds it died on me and would not respond. I have tried re-charging by a wall charger and computer and nothing. I have ordered a new battery with the hope that this solve
The problem. Emailed ibasso without a response at the moment. Has anybody else experienced this. There advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

did you try a differt usb cable?
