I wouldn't say that the hd800 is laid back with the uha-6s at all... especially unmodded :p. Once modded, the treble becomes a lot less problematic and indeed slightly laid back compared to the uerms.

Well, it wasn't about the treble. It was just that overall presentation sounded more wide and bit more distant. I still loved it that way to. And by mod, you mean the anax mod? I love them as they are stock, but I haven't heard the modded one yet.

But I was surprised that UHA-6S could drive HD800 with ease.

Hmm yeah, it is laid back in that sense. The UERMs are more intimate and upfront. Yes, anax 2.0. Once you hear it, it is quite an improvement in the midrange to treble transition.

The HD800s aren't hard to drive, they're just picky. UHA-6s does work fairly well though for a portable, and the Vali is a great budget amp. Of course the HD800s scale really well too!

/Sigh this snowstorm in NY better not delay my emotiva dac -_-

Best of luck! I wish it's not snowing when I go back to MA. I'm flying back to US this sunday.

Hmm... how can I get a HD800?
Used HD800 is around $1000...
If I sell all my gears besides main ones...
SRH940: $150
KEF M500: $200
FXZ200: $200
HD598: $130
That's $680. Damn it.
So sell more.
AK10: $200
Voxoa HD Wireless: $50
That's $930. I can manage to spend $70 extra.

Anyone willing to buy everything from me? :p
I mean, the prices I listed are really good. If anyone actually wants to buy them from me, actually PM me. I seriously am going to collect some good money for a nice high end hp. I feel like I've seen the end of the iem world(or pretty close to it).

I am starting to feel convinced that the old CDP sounds on par if not better then AK100. What? Out of LO, the sound is very smooth and coherent. The bass impact is very good. Interesting. Same music, same CD quality file, but my CDP+UHA-6S seems to sound more fluid...

Whoo. I changed my dreams a little. HD800 might be a push. Why not settle with SRH1540? Now I'm looking for SRH1540.

Listen to your ears! xD

Not sure if 20th century technology is having a backflow or the CDP you have is of really high end and cost more than the AK100 back then xD

Lol. My ears say I want something different from reference signature. And that cdp was a mid-fi decent one made in japan. Pretty good. The amp though... the amp is more powerful powerful then AK100 while remaining dead silent all time.
