Well like I said the standard cable is just fine, and now just unplugging and replugging into the extension I have seems to be working fine as well.  Getting a bit of static in some things that I didn't use to as well, but it is not terrible.  For sure when listening to a pure music audio source, it is flawless, no issues at all.  But I suppose looking for just a longer cable overall would be better then going through an extension?

Yes, that's my point.  Because not only are you getting better shielding and longer cable, you also avoid plug wear and loose connection over time.

So been wearing them for the past 5 hours or so, noticing some fatigue on the inside back part of my ear, am I not suppose to have the entire earbud inside my ear, and just the foam tip, or is the whole blue portion suppose to slide into my ear as well?

The answer should be whatever position that gives you a good seal and being comfortable. However, I agree that that default round comply foam tips (TS-500) is a bit short, and I suggest you get a pack of the longer regular version (T-500) for a slightly longer fit.

I did, i got a mixed set of the T-500s and am using the largest.

Mmm... this might be a problem.  I know the tips from the W4R is even longer but I don't think it will fit...  Can you pull the tips out from the bore a little bit?  I hope it wasn't bothering you too much.

Well no the tips aren't bothing me, but I just pulled the entire earbud out, but after wearing them for about 4 hours, and then taking them out I could definitely feel the fatigue from where the plastic part of the back of the earbud was just pressing against the back inside part of my ear.

That's not what I meant. I am saying that if you don't insert the tips all the way down the bore, you give yourself a bit more distance, so the case may not go against your ear.

Yeah so after nearly 12 hours of and on wear, the little sharp edge on the outside near the "e" in the "UE" logo, where the diagonal line goes across the front, wont keep from fatigueing my ears with all the various foams tips or rubber tips.

Dr.Sheep, and anyone else who has wotn both IEMs, what are your thoughts about comfort, between the Westone 4R and the UE 900, size etc? Cant seem to find a side by side comparison.

I have both, and comfort wise I do think that the UE900 is better because it is smaller and weight less.  However, I have never worn them for such long periods, or have the pods so deep inside my ears so I don't really know.  Now the W4R does have slightly bigger and longer tips, but the pods themselves are way bigger so you might have problems with it too.  I know a few people have your exact problem, and they sand down the pod's casing a bit and it should help.  Please head over to the UE900 trend to see if they have more advice for you.

Please let us know how the W4r pairs with the Mustang, if you do decide to get it. I've read that the Mustang has lush mids that yield second-to-none vocals with most headphones, and I'm curious how much this will affect the W4r's signature.

Yep!  If you browse here in HF threads, you can find some helpfull infos about RSA Mustang! Infact, it is a very good match for W4!  It cost $375.00 + 160.00 LOD

I was in a similar position as the OP not that long ago and ended up getting the W4's. I'm happy with them but not wowed. They're fine, I don't regret getting them but I'm still looking for something that will really trip my trigger. The sound is good, slightly better that the 535's (though that's just my opinion) but the sound stage is smaller than I think you, the OP, may be looking for. Had I to do it again, I think I may end up with the AS2's, though they're a little heavy in the base, even when tuned down, than I typically go for. All these iem's are great and it ultimately comes down to what fits you best.

IE 80s have big round sound stage but have terrible clarity, and also maybe too much bass for you. se535s have great clarity in mids and highs, but lack of bass. When a song starts playing and the vocal comes out, the instruments will be dragged to the background, because se535s are actually for stage use. So if you care about vocals, I recommend se535s. W4R does well on positioning and with great clarity, but I recommend UE 900 over W4R because UE 900s have larger sound stage.
