Comparisons: 36 of the Top Closed/Portable Headphones Around

Seeing how this is a comparison for top closed back Cans, I'd love to hear anyone's impression on the Sony MDR z-7's.
I find this headphone phenomenal for a closed back. It has gigantic bass extension that is actually quite tight and not bloomy at all. 70mm drivers to boot!
I have a feeling these MDR's are gonna make a huge splash soon. Look great as well. Very comfortable.

I have the Z7s here and love them. But I don't consider them "portable" and that's why I left them of the listing. Just sold my TH900s, but the Z7s are still here.

Would love to hear your thoughts on the Focal Spirit Pro & Oppo PM-3 if possible, Peter!

I still haven't got around to the Focal headphones...they look quite good. The PM-3 is very intriguing too. But I've gotta finish up my reviews for Headphone.guru first (AKT5p and Layla's). I'll then see what I can do.

+1 For Rush too! Loved that Doc on them, to see them rocking out at home when they were just getting started (y)

I went to B&H yesterday to try out the new Momentums...and all i got was "we have them in stock but we cant let ya try 'em though :frowning2: (they did that to me with the Astell & Kern as well)
I did try the KEF 500's though, and the older Momentums again (hoping they'd let me compare yet alas they didn't... i think they are in ltd supply at the moment until they fully go up on the display racks and online stores (even amazon is ltd right now it seems) and my server gave me a warning when i went to Sennheisers' website saying their software was outdated...hmmmm

I did go back to the B&O store as well to listen to the H6's again...that's a nice lil headphone...

Pm-3 should fare well on this list. I have been listening for over a day now and still impressed. Will compare to the momentum 2 I have had for a couple weeks and h6 and p7 I've had for awhile. Need to take family skiing for spring break first. Maybe I'll take some with, I think I can change phones while sliding down the mountain.

Got any quick first impressions vs the h6 and p7? Do you think the pm-3 is a better overall package in terms of build portability and sound than those two?

Sorry if I sound super eager, I just really want to get an impression of them against some headphones I've hear before! Will try them out for myself as soon as they're available in aus as well.

I haven't listened to either for about a month, I want to listen side by side to be sure but from memory I would say yes, in my opinion.

So i went and pulled the trigger on the PM 3's seeing as i will have to wait a little while for the Momentum 2.0, looking forward to these as this is my first real trek into a nicer pair of headphones. Now off to go get a usb CD drive to finish my transferring as my mac mini gave up on me after 500+ cd's being loaded and i cant abuse my powerbook with the remaining 250 cd's...Thumbs up to all the great reviews and comparisons here

Mac, would you say the MOE 2's treble is more tamed than the first gen? I loved the OG MOE, but found it a little too v-shaped. If the bass and treble are slightly (and I mean slightly) tuned down, I might check them out...

The over ear or on-ear? Sorry? The original over-ears are far from "V" shaped as the treble fell a bit too much too quickly. The new M2 on-ears are far more natural sounding (still no way a "V" or "U" shape to the FR response).

MOE is my short way of saying Momentum On Ear, which is the one I'm referring to. Hmmm, I could have sworn the original MOE was v-shaped as the mids were pushed back quite a bit. At least, that was my impression. Either way, looking forward to your Momentum On Ear 2 review :)
