Could just be a VSD3/S with the silver-plated upgrade cable.

No gap, and we can see inside the cable don't have vsonic MMCX connector anymore

I think this is really non-detachable version because there is no sign of brass parts of the connector.

Ah, you guys might be right. Nice catch!

If that is the new version without a detachable cable, it might end up being a bit more expensive since it's coming with the silver-plated cable now.

I hope the distributor can 1-1 replacement with non-detachable ver.
I think I must sell my custom cable. I can't use it anymore

Sorry guys, I flood multiple communities with my reviews "w/lots of pics!!!"

Yes, that picture with silver cable does look like a non-removable version, just don't get a choice of "silver" color.  From my test of their silver plated vs original cable, the improvement wasn't that significant.  Definitely more subtle in comparison to silver-plated replacement cable for VSD3/3S I just received from lunashops.

With an exception of not having a chin slider, for $30 http://www.lunashops.com/goods.php?id=4592 you get a noticeable improvement in bass slam!  As a matter of fact, with that replacement cable in comparison to a stock cable you get deeper, wider, and more detailed low end and brighter mids.  Also, in comparison of lunashops silver plated cable to VSonic original silver plated cable, you get a little bit of improvement in bass and lower mids, and more clarity in upper mids/treble.  Plus, you get in-line mic/remote.

Hmm, I might order that cable. I love my vsd3, and a good cable with a mic attached is tempting.

Just keep in mind, and there is a reason I mentioned about lack of chin slider (I told Lunashops guys about this already after testing this cable).  I tested exactly the same cable for ATH-IM03/IM50, so performance is very consistent.  But with ATH models the connector housing was shorter.  Here, due to a custom MMCX connector they couldn't find at first the right housing and used that custom made rubber one (which btw - VERY HIGH quality as well).  But if you go to a product link I provided above, they already have a new permanent metal black short housing.  I think that's the one they will have for a final cable.  Well, with black/red version I got for my testing, it was a tiny bit longer and created a slightly larger bend radius of cable around my ear.  The cable is soft and bends nicely, but still I had to pull down a bit to make sure it doesn't come off.  If I would have chin slider (or as some refer to it y-splitter slider or cable cinch), I would have just slide it up to pull the cable closer.  Again, that was only my comment about that particular cable version with rubbery connector housing, and I'm pretty sure the new one with metal housing shouldn't have that problem.  Besides, you can always make your own cable cinch with a small rubber band.

Hey Twister

I wasn't sure after reading our earlier posts, but does the official silver vsd3 cable make a tangible difference as compared to stock cable? Are the lunashop cables on the same level?

Hey Twister

It's probably buried a few pages back when I did my write-up about VSonic original silver-plated (it's not silver, but rather silver plated OFC copper) cable I received for review from Penonaudio.  My conclusion was that for $15 upgrade price when you buy VSD3/3S is was a great bargain.  But as a standalone $35 cable it didn't make sense.  The level of improvement going from original VSonic cable to Lunashops is higher than going to VSonic silver plated cable.

As I mentioned in another thread, cables DO NOT magically improve sound quality.  Metal wire is like a filter, and with a higher purity of the wire (oxygen free copper, ofc, or even higher occ process, and 5N rating meaning 5 ninth in 99.999% purity) you have improved conductivity and reduced losses.  So, you are not improving the sound by using higher purity cable, but rather reducing artifacts introduced by less pure material.  And the level of these changes could be so subtle that it's not even noticeable.  But I can clearly hear the improvement going from a stock VSonic to silver-plated VSonic and silver-plated Lunashops.

Any clue on officially confirmed purity rating of both vsonic AM spc and luna's?......

I know that lunashops is silver-plated OFC with 5N (99.999%) purity.  VSonic's replacement cable was always a mystery without a spec, but I don't hear the same level of improvement with it as I do with lunashops.  Again, I don't want to sound like I'm pushing their product, I'm not associated with these guys (lunashops) though I did receive that cable free of charge in exchange for my honest opinion which I'm providing to you

To be honest, it makes more sense to invest in upgrade cable with more expensive headphones, not spending $35 for cable to use with $45 headphones.  $15 replacement makes more sense.  But $30 replacement with marginal sound improvement and additional functionality of in-line remote makes more sense.  Also thinking, if you take original VSonic cable cinch and carefully cut a slit on each side so you can open it up and take it off, perhaps you can apply it to this replacement cable.
