The new IEM of Vsonic VSD 3S ( impression updated by smailbz)

Ack! My VSD3 left earpiece is cutting out. I tried swapping the cable connectors, and the cutting out remains in the left earpiece. This leads me to believe the problem is the earpiece and not the cable. This is my second VSD3. The first had bad driver fled out of the box. Now I've got bad connector on the left earpiece. Maybe detachable cables at this price point wasn't such a good idea...

I've contacted Penon about a replacement but am open to suggestions for fixing this myself. Any ideas?

Pretty happy with the VSD3S. Having had a bit more time with these I would say that the sound quality is pretty decent for the price but I doubt they're real giant killers.

The bass on these is quite prominent without being bloated. Awesome. Mids/vocals are a little recessed but only apparent coming off something like the SR80.

But, and this is a big but... the highs tend to sound a little artificial. This is apparent in EDM songs like Animals, Gold Skies, Electric Glow just to name some. But P!nk's "Who Knew", B.E.P's "Imma Be" and similar songs sound fine.

Edit: Using the foam tips make them sound more natural.

To conclude, decent sound on a budget. Good for gym and commuting. Detachable cables at this price point is a big plus as well. Gjdm vsonic.

Thanks guys, will probably order later today. What about the upgrade cable? is that worth the extra 15 dollars?

Search this thread a few pages back, I posted a detailed review of the replacement cable.  For the purpose of sound enhancement, it falls short with a subtle improvement, but as a spare replacement cable - you can't beat it for $15.  Definitely recommend it!

VC1000 sounds somehow similar to the VSD3S?
I`m going to sell the B3 Pro1 and T1-E and keep the Vsonics, liked their S.G. much more than the others.
Looking to buy something with the money, and sice VSD5 should arrive maybe in next year...

I have both VC1000 and VSD3S here. They sound similar in tuning yes, but quite a difference in tone being dual BA vs Dynamic driver. If you've never tried a BA before (or even if you have) VC1000 is an excellent IEM, probably my favorite between DBA-02, R-50 etc. It's very fun involving dual BA, quite energetic. I have absolutely no reason why they never took off on Head-fi, maybe it was just bad timing. Highly capable IEM I rate higher than GR01 which was riddled with vocal sibilance for myself and at least one other.

Actually knowles did remarkbly a great job offering TWFK dual BAs to rock-it-sounds,UE,bwavz,FA & vsonic and they tuned their own, brilliantly....and yeah except UE rest didnt make it so hit,due to its small size and snug fit, beside its sound and brand.......second I wld say FA due to its solid build and last R-50/B2 where Vsonic's VC1000 and GR01 lies in-between the slot.....however none has their major flaws in sound but hard to believe they didnt find a good place here, like you said,agree.....any one of these is a must have to enjoy a twfk only IEM (no triple hybrids that has twfk), just like GR07 for single dynamic,UE600/A161 for single BA,UE TF10 for triple BA etc.....

I'm going of the ones I've owned and heard, R-50, B2, DBA-02, VC1000. GR01...VC1000 was probably my favourite.

Which ones have you owned/heard?

Any comparisons of the VC1000 to the UE900 and VSD3?

I need more time with the UE900, (I'm enjoying them). We got off to a slow start, I can't pin point the reasons for that exactly.

Some kind of strange voodoo at work there....

In a nut shell UE900 is more refined than both VC1000 and VSD3S, (haven't heard VSD3) the two later like mentioned have a similar signature while UE900 is more balanced with that warmish tonality. Both the VSD3S and VC1000 will sound clearer / brighter on first listen, then there's the detail and refinement of UE900.

VC1000 isn't as analytical as R-50 or B2, Its a little thicker and more musical than other typical dual BA's, think more bass, thicker mids, but keeping that TWFK treble brightness and mid-range clarity.

But I liked them all,  all the dual BA's mentioned.  I just found VC1000 better value for money and sound preferences.

If you're wondering if VC1000 is worth owning if you have UE900 and VSD3, I would make the call and say yes.

Nice to see your stack......I bought both UE700 & TF10 but kept the tf10 and returned the other, due to cost saving and sound of tf10.......and last year bought combo offer of B2 w/ibasso amp from MP4 and liked the different sound of B2 until it was loaned to a close friend of mine and never came back to me......maybe it was w/me for abt a month roughly...since B2 is a rebrand of FA I was'nt interested in going for MKII either (improved build) and Vsonic's 2 offerings of same driver with huge price difference (~90-100)didnt impress me to buy either and ck10 is a costly affair....and so finally my TF10 is still with me and Altec's muzx 606 single BA.....

Oh, I don't keep them all, only the strong survive in my inventory, natural selection decides what stays. I've sold those dual BA. B2 I'd own again, maybe not R-50. I'm not sure if it's completely obvious to others budget IEM are hitting the market / Head-fi threads with a force lately. There's some heavy hitters, VSD3S being one of them, they're pushing far past thier price point. I think Shawn should be getting himself a Havi.
