Vinyl in the sinuses sounds bad. But hey, that might be the answer to one of the greatest mysteries of medicine. (Not really but still uncertain what they actually do.) So keep that vinyl cracking!

After reading the past 20 or so pages I would have been extremely embarrassed to have taken so much of a thread with my complaints about the AS2 or rather "my particular AS2."   I realize it was very immature of me to have made such blatant statements as though they were true about all the AS2's in the forums.   My particular AS2 had issues and the mature thing to have done right away would have been to contact Dale with my concerns and returned them for adjustment.    (If I had sent mine to Rin he would have "proven" I was right about my particular AS2, not the others.   Others didn't have my complaints).   I actually think it was very self-centered of me(king of the universe) to have made my complaints in the forum in the way I did.

I am very happy with mine.   Dale did a superb job at making some mods to clear up the muddiness on the bass and open up the highs.   I did AB these with my 7550's, TPeos 200 and 1P2.   The 1P2 definitely seemed more technically superior, but I appreciate the AS2 for its non-technical, warm, relaxed and fun sound.  The 7550 is a dynamic, and while not quite as clear as the TPeos200 overall, I found I preferred the sony because of its smoother sound.   My re-tuned AS2 continued on with that sony sound and improved it in all aspects.   So the AS2 is a definate step up for my preferred sound signature.
My Studio V seems pretty analytical and dry, so it brings out details of my AS2, while my T1 smooths out the sound so I hear a rich, deep, detailed sound.   Seems interesting that Dale is planning a mod to separate mid-bass from sub-bass, perhaps increases sub-bass(my bass port is off).

Had mine for long enough for that new-toy smell to wear off, and I am still listening to them every single day... Absolutely love them. I'd still like to see that midbass pulled back a bit and rolled into the subbass as Dale's next mod is supposed to do, but even if they never changed, I'd still be quite content. I still marvel at how they can be so clear and transparent without any of the fatigue I've come to associate with those qualities... As soon as I managed to get off my fat duff, I'll be selling off the rest of my IEMs, as there's just no reason for me to have 'em. The only other thing I'd like to try is the Ety ER4 series, and a big part of that is just for use in high-noise environments because they isolate like a canal full of Elmer's glue.

As a random question, is there any such thing as an orthodynamic driver for IEMs? I ask because the bass on my LCD-2 rev 1 is simply the best I've ever heard, and as tough as it would be to improve the sound on the ASG-2, I thought that might be a way to at least try. Hope that's not quite as dumb a question as it kinda sounded when I typed it...

Just curious, Music 4321, are you the new moderator?(couldn't find an IEM on this thread that you own on your profile)

I've owned (not just auditioned) the TG334 & IE800; still own the Fat4 (KAEDE) and the K3003, which is a hybrid (one DD + 2 BAs), like the AS(G)-2, 1plus2 & RDB+ 2v1.

upgrade from the ASG-2s

really recommend trying out your prospective upgrades before spending money on them. I extensively compared most of the iems you're considering to the ASG-2, and only came away preferring the IE800 because of the mids and cleaner bass. Everything else was either just a signature difference or the G2 was just better.

For those of you interested in the ie800, you do know that you can get it from Amazon japan for USD $667.15.
You would have to use the Tenso forwarding service to the U.S., which would be about another $30, so still under $700.

That's an amazing price. There may be an option to add a square trade warranty to it...

You know I just realized that eke must be reading all these posts and going crazy not being able to respond.

You have no idea lol
