Bluebear, i heard a different opinion about Shure se846 from a very trusted person with pretty good ears, in his opinion new Shure is a very strong proposition.
Who to trust? I do not doubt you but perhaps it was too radical to tell "stay clear of". I would rather tell anyone buying it would better audition in shop first.

as long as it is clear and doesnt muddy up , sometimes in certain tracks i felt that the music was overwhelemed and like someone covered the iem with sonic foam ??? and if you listen closes that is not the case it apears to be muddy but when i really concentrate everything is there and sometimes it can sound abit...busy ??? or boxed in but after i Eqed the ASG-2 on my ak100 the bass seems better ( and to all ak100 users out there...i realised that when i put on christina agulera beautiful i can hear distortion in her voice at some parts when the volume is high but turn off the eq and everything is back to normal) so now i am looking for an IEM with a little more treble , better bass control , dont get me wrong the ASG-2 has one of best layering and controlled bass from IEMs stand point, i have heard but i am very used to the bass of the 1840s which many people call bass shy but it actually has a the bass it comes only when it is needed and when it comes ..it comes. ( thats what she said) so far the IE800 seems to fit the bill the more i dwell into it ( i dont know if this is my brain accepting the things that turned me off the IE800 but just from these few hours i cant wait till september to buy the IE800....though my opinions change really quickly :/ l
i took alook at the F111 looks spankingly nice ! i love iems with Ciem shapes! gives them a more premium limited rare look the IE800 have a common look ...if i were to pair them next to my dads 846 people would choose the 846 bases on looks alone ( FYI the ASG-2 sounds better to me than the SE846 with bass filter)
i like bass simply but hate when it influences the sound :/

I told Nukeshock to "stay clear of SE846 if you do not like too much bass". Nukeshock said his dad has the 846 so I can safely assumed he has heard the sound signature already? No need for him to go to a shop to audition. And he mentioned also that he prefers ASG-2 over SE846 with bass filter, citing feedback that "i like bass simply but hate when it influences the sound". That kind of agrees with my own auditioning of the SE846's bass that tends to color its sound signature. Anyway, a few of those who went down to the Mook Headphone Festival in Singapore also gives similar auditioning response to SE846's bass. Some bassheads may like 846 and those who are Shure fans probably will support it, but most others said that 846 is not worth its price tag as a flagship IEM compared to other brands.

It's official: The SE846, like the K3003, sucks.

Well although it is not up to my expectation, I must say it does look good as a universal IEM with the transparent housing and the silver-corded cable. Wish my ASG-2 default cable comes in silver, but I bought a custom silver cable as an upgrade for it anyway so it doesn't really matter in the end.

So, just like the K3003, the best part of the SE846 is to be found in the looks department (and possibly the packaging department, too)?

Unfortunately, I'm not a fan of the looks of the SE846, custom IEMs, or other Shure/Westone type IEMs (including, of course, Aurisonics IEMs) because they all look to me like hearing aids, as they do to those around me. Guess I'll stick to my K3003s, which sound awful but look great.

IE800 looks ok too if you don't like the hearing aid look. But its ergonomics isn't as good as the K3003 due to the short top portion cabling and its small pin connector. The main issue I have with these 2 IEMs is that their cables cannot be replaced/swapped/upgraded.

^  Owned the IE800 and sold it a few months back.

Because it was only pulling in pretty attractive ladies the fun with which wasn't guaranteed? I don't blame you.

^   Yes, and the sort of ladies the K3003 attracts is really quite something. But, just like audiophiles appreciate good sound—I obviously don't and I'm not ashamed to admit it—I appreciate very fine-looking AND rather sophisticated ladies—and the K3003s deliver on that front... in spades.

Double-blind test that.

^   That's about the only thing about the K3003s that has been double-blind tested, in fact—several times. Well, that and the impressive packaging and pretty awful SQ.
