Want to burn them in first.
I can say this, that bass port is really something, a little bit goes a long way!
So far, after only about an hour, really quite impressed.

Heh. Yep. Even with the KURO here, these things aren't backin' down in any sense. The sheer power across the range is really impressive and makes other phones sound pretty anemic to my ears. Glad you've finally got a chance to hear them V

:beerchug:
I'm in good company.

Welcome, brother.

Idsync, you lovable person. You were supposed to post a writeup. Stop making me look like the shill waxing poetic about the g2 :D

Lol you guys are too funny.
and :beerchug:

Are your incoming ones in your possession or did you grab a demo from somewhere (like a meet)?

Mine :D
Sig updated. Thanks.

Nice! Congrats! I look forward to your impressions while I eagerly await my own....

Granted... I'm getting mine maybe a week or two before I take a trip to DC so... I'll probably have a lot of headtime on the busride...

With the ASG-2"s I'm on stage on this Youtube clip for Dead Can Dance, yep, that's me, right in the middle!
Percussion really starts to kick in at about 2:08. It all sounds amazing on the ASG's,

I'm hanging out on shigzeo's site (hey I remembered to use lower cased letters for you there man) Ohm-image and even he's got a couple of nice words for the G-2 here (although hes does get one detail wrong - the dynamic covers the whole range, while the BAs are there to augment the highs ;)  )  :

I hope he gets his hands on a pair, as I was thinkin' the phones would totally be up his alley

It could have been the cold. Or the drugs (for the cold). Or the alcohol (all the time). I'll fix that. Thank you for pointing that out. Very much appreciated.

EDIT: edited. It wasn't so much a mistake as it was an omission. I omitted the full-range and explained away the wonderful bass presence instead. Arg. Back to the whisky.

Nice to see Idsynchrono, vwinter, and Carlsan get their ASG-2's. It's been said before.. but I'll say it again. Get to your nearest Rat Shack and get the Auvio tips. When I auditioned the AS/G-2 demo last summer, Dale included those tips.. I hounded him to tell me where he found them. Nice to see they were available not more than three minutes from my place. They're simply fantastic and I've used them on many (universal) IEMs since... they remain my favorite ear tips to date. I don't have any universal IEMs any more (I'm a custom IEM snob now), but I keep a set of these tips around just in case I fancy a universal IEM down the road. I think the ASG-2 comes with some special ear tips Dale had specifically designed.. but the Auveo tips are still 'must haves,' IMO.

Back to the AS/G-2..

.. Everyone loves the AS/G-2's bass.. but too many of you guys are sleeping on the sexy midrange and airy, open treble. If I had one tuning recco to Dale, it would be to flatten the majority of the (mid and lower mid) bass frequencies further (even with the port closed) & goose up the sub bass (<80 hz) a bit. That's literally all I would change as far as tuning... but I still find them immensely satisfying as is... even with the just-arrived JH13Pro FP "elbowing through the club."

I closed them all the way down, then opened them up a hair from there. it's tricky to get them perfectly the same.

An amp is definitely necessary, as is the right tips apparently.

Okay, why do you think, is that so?

I don't agree with the statement: 'an amp is definitely necessary'.

The ASG-2 isn't an easy earphone to drive, but it isn't hard, either. Modern hardware, especially the likes of iPod nano 7 or so, should render all the resolution this earphone needs- unless you are keen on more distortion. In which case, I have no argument. Plus, there are very few amps that meet the necessary requirements of earphones such as these. Those amps seem to have seen their heyday back in 2007 or so. Recently, amps are aimed at higher Ω earphones/headphones.

voltage/volume: no doubt you will get more with an amp. Absolute resolution/sound quality (actual, not figurative) is NOT a given with an amp.

i just got the ASG-2 in the mail...was extremely dissapointed , i blamed myself it was worse than the free beats earpiece that came with my HTC One  , then i though maybe it was because i was used to the sound of the SRH-1840 Shure's TOTL headphone...then i realised...i didnt push the jack in properly...
basshead.gif
suddenly i hear Led's voice...ermagerd ASG-2 came to life ! granted the bass port was on full and my amp X02 is known to be a bassy amp without the bass switch turned up and the bass switch was turned up...partyrock anthem...never heard it like this before...
i turned the bass port off and offed the bass boost on my amp..put on Pearl jam -Nothing as it Seem ...i felt like i was transported into the music...
here is a picture of my portable RIG just for you Guys
