The Fiio X5 Thread

Quite understand, and its a minor thing in the scheme of things. I'm not missing a setting am I where there is no lock screen? As a static user at home, I would like NO lock at all, just screen to dim and allow buttons to be used! Not everyone uses X5 out and about. It is good enough for home! Hardly used my hifi since it arrived.

I am another person that only uses a X5 at home, so a no lock but have screen dim would be much appreciated.

Just checked, there is a separate setting for screen dimming, so just a No-Lock would be great for all home users. Be very easy if enough people only use this at home?

Thanks for that Andrew and happy music listening.

I'm a bit frustrated by the clipping off of last two seconds of all tracks on the DX90, and a Scan card screen that comes up every time turned on. Some DSD files occasionally needing a restart.  Both units sound great but the Fiio just works and I actually really like the interface.

Got my X5, didn't try to listen to music through it, but already have a question - the description for top left button says "press for shortcuts, long press to return to main menu". When I press the button, I get to "play settings" menu, but long press seems to be not working for me - nothing happens :frowning2: Was that functionality removed due to the fact than the top right button let do the same or I have a unit with defect? My firmware is 1.20.

For the past few days , my fiio x5 have been auto shutting off in the middle of my music playback and when charging, my x5 feels like it is vibrating from the current passing through, is that normal? O_O

Hello All - I just broke down and placed my order for the X5 (to replace my aging Cowon S9) - Looking forward to putting it through the paces!
I have UE Triple FI-10s and (don't laugh) Bose Quietcomfort 15s - may get some REAL cans later.

I have a few questions in advance:

1)  I have the FiiO E17 and E09K combo for the desktop (driving active studio monitors!) - real happy with it - but everyone is lauding the E12 in combo with the X5 - I was going to hold off before purchasing the E12 to see how the X5 is without it (or try with the E17).  Is there really a big difference with the E12 together with the X5??

2)  Does anyone know where to find high quality connection cables like these http://www.aloaudio.com/cables/portable/mini-to-mini somewhere in Germany or Europe??

Thanks in advance!

one thing share with you , there are one customer usd a sandisk OTG U-disk, now he get 128+128+64=320g. lol.

noted, he is testing the 1.27beta version.

Or maybe using something like this tiny Kingston micro-usb OTG flip drive (up to 64GB as well) in addition to 2x 128GB cards:

Not sure if someone had talk about this idea before, but I have an idea that maybe can solve the lockscreen problem.

When in the lockscreen, every buttons involved in this problem must be activate by pressing it twice (like Apple's mic) so it will not be too easy to activate it accidentally. I'm not sure that this improvement is possible or not by upgrading FW or it has something to do with the hardware.

Sorry if my english was not good.

Please email support@fiio.net for this issue and include the following information:
1. Version of firmware used
2. Whether gapless playback is switched on or off
3. Do you mean the X5 gets hot while charging or that it "vibrates"?

There is nothing wrong with your Bose cans. The X5 should bring out the best in them. I've been looking for the perfect headphone for a while, have gone thru almost 14 and I've come to learn that musical enjoyment is the key. Don't let the bashers/haters ruin your perception of cans you already own.

Try this:
 - Unplug from wall
 - rotate wall adaptor 180 degrees
 - plug back in the wall

I've had that kind of "vibrating" feeling on a zenbook before using the stock wall adapter. the "vibrating" feeling was caused by the polarity of the current going through the wall adaptor.

Another solution could be to try different USB wall adaptors until you find one correctly isolated.

Couple more things I would like to see:

-Remember menu position... I like to go highlight a song I am going to play next, so then when the song is over I can just hit play, but on the X5 I do that, go back and the menu is cleared again
-Option to turn screen on when you hit next/previous song (and/or have the back button turn the screen on)
-When going from Storage mode to DAC USB mode I have to unplug and plug back in the X5 to initiate this. Not sure if this is just on Mac or is an X5 thing
-Would love to be able to set which corner buttons do what (wouldn't mind swapping the top 2 buttons, so "back" is the top left button. Although I am pretty used to this by now so that's not a big deal)
-Please fix the first second or two of the song that gets cut off (gapless playback issue?) - I know this has been mentioned before, though.. I just wanted to mention it again

Other than that I have had a few freezes where I have to force shutdown... during playback while doing nothing as well as during times when I am hitting next song)
