I really don't care how they got in the film reel. They are awesome! Thanks for sharing!

There was a competition to see who could build the best amp (I think, correct me someone if I'm wrong) for only $69. So he built that. It wouldn't cost a consumer $69, it would probobly be around 2k if it was retail is my guess

Kerry can do things mere mortals cannot.

Thanks :)

Ari had run a competition a year or two ago and I was looking to build a dynamic amp anyway.  It is a blend of a few designs.  The output stage is based on Pass Audio's Zen 7 (Son of Zen) and has a similar topology to the Stax T2.

Very fun stuff.

PS.  I had a bit of help from Kevin Gilmore.  He had some great ideas to simplify and keep the cost down.

hi - just checking in to see... was the HiFiMAN RE-600 there?
looks like an awesome meet, some nice less common high-end pieces there. really need to try the R10 at some point!

No RE-600s. Only the RE-400s and the HE line. With their new player the 901 I believe

A little late; but I wanted to say that I had a great time and thanks to all those people I spoke to.

how ironic, just after posting in this thread I find out that I'll be going to NYC in a few days!
sorry for hi-jacking again but are there any really good headphone audio stores in NYC worth checking out?

thanks

There are three main ones IMHO. J&R, B&H and AC Gears. The former two probably have the best selection, but due to me working at the latter one, their headphone selection is getting better

B&H probably has the best range though. Going from lowest of the low, all the way up to HD800s. J&R I know has a okish headphone wall, but I haven't been there in a while.

AC Gears just got in a few Sennheisers (specifically Momentums, HD598s and HD558s as well as several of their in ears). AC Gears also just got in for demo (before they get in the full shipment) HE-400s and RE-400s from HiFiMan.

Hopefully we'll get in Beyerdynamic soon.

B&H is on 34th St and 9th Ave. Its a couple of blocks away from Penn Station.

AC Gears is on 8th St and Broadway. It is right off of the NYU stop of the yellow line.

As always, Tom (bozebuttons) put on an amazing meet. I love the New York community!

My audio impressions? I listened to just a couple of things while there. I think it was the Aurisonics ASG-2 I listened to at their exhibit, with a tunable bass port, and my first impressions of it were good. (I'll try to spend more time with it at the next meet I see it.) Dale at Aurisonics was a super-fun guy to talk to and hang out with.

I also heard the latest revision of the Mad Dog, and it was very good, sounding better to me in New York than the ones I've heard previously.

I'll post a few more comments about the meet later (and a few more pieces of gear), but right now I just wanted to post some photos from the meet first.

Following are a handful of images from the Spring (2013) New York Meet. (There'll be a link to the rest of them at the end of this post.)

I wanted to include all the photos from the photo set in this post, but I thought it might make the page load too heavy. To see the rest of the photos I took at this meet, click on the following link:
