James,

I hope you do back port the improvements from the X5 to X3.
I think the X3 is wonderful but I do miss gap-less OGG playback :p

sure, we have not give up X3, it is still the most important thing to us in 2013. for the gap-less playback, it is limited to some kinds of music format and album play back, but when you consider that X3 is the only DAP which support so many

music format and cue , cover , lyre , you may understand that it is a big work to us.

each time we test a new firmware, we have to test more than 500 different music . different music format in different sample rate, bit depth, with, without cover, lyre, different compressed model ( FLAC have 8, and Ape have 5).

anyway, we will do our best to try to satisfy all the requirement from our user cause it is you that we can have success. but just give us time , and some understanding if we can't

Not to be OOT on this thread but isn't it high time for Fiio to enter the fierce headphone/IEM market as well?

I am confident you will do you best.
As a consumer you already have my understanding and support!

Just don't forget the x3 users when the X5 wipes the stage with goodness.

James you are great man and honest. I have too big hopes for X5 and I will be one of the first owners in Eu region. I just wish you can produce it on time without a delay and functioning properly. It will be nice to experience the dap in my hands growin by time with the FiiO support and better firmwares.

+1
Yes me too!

I really hope James (Fiio) will make the history in HiFi DAP when he releases Fiio X5 which I hope to have SQ equivalent or even better than those IVY league Reference DAPs (DX100, HDP-R10, HM-901 & AK120) but at reasonable & affordable price.

I dont really ununderstand why you would buy an x3 just to plug a dac into it. I'm assuming specifications mean nothing to you and you just want a dac for the sake of having a dac. Get an algo rhythm solo or one of ray Samuels dac.

Isn't it pretty obvious what he wants? Seems to me like he wants to use the X3 as a pure source component, the DAC in the X3 wouldn't be as good as a stand alone DAC. The internal DAC section would be for portable situations.
