You Know You're an Audiophile When.. Version 2!

BHSE is roughly $6000, maybe $6500 (what's an extra $500 at that level? ha!). I want to hear the Liquid Lightning first (it's around $4500 or so) because it's a more colored sound. BHSE with SR-009 is supposed to be a reference statement in terms of transparency on headphones. But who knows, I might enjoy the colored and cheaper solid state LL more.

Stax amps top out around $2000 or so. Every shootout and review I have read about them has them as horribly inferior to the two 3rd party amps above, plus they look really unimpressive (the LL and BHSE look dead sexy). I have heard they don't have enough power to drive the SR-007 and SR-009 properly (especially the SR-007).

HeadAmp is selling the Blue Hawaii SE for 4 payments of $1399 USD, or $5596 total. I guess that's close enough to $6000. XD
Did you ever consider building a Kevin Gilmore solid state amp, or an Eddie Current Electra?

I'm content with my basic STAX earspeaker system (SRS-2170), but the SR-007 MKI would be my dream headphone with the Liquid Lightning.

Ironically, I post about owning a Stax rig someday and my favorite rig in my cubicle is well under $1000. I like it much better than my sometimes-finnicky HD800 setup.

DX50 as source, running 1.2.2 firmware from Coax out ($250), also used in the car via aux jack.

Peachtree DacIt ($299)

Schiit Magni ($99), although this is currently about to be upgraded. Works wonderfully for the price.

Mad Dogs ($300, bought for $220 used)

It’s all about that synergy.

About that whole renting out houses... My neighbor built and rents 60 storage units in a small town and that brings in $72k a year, he also does the same thing with mobile homes and that's another $100k a year.  It's crazy.

I just got my new amp (Lake People G109s) and now my HD600s are at their full potential.  The highs are literally 100x clearer than they were with my old E9.

Is it enough for his expensive hobby? xD

^so true it's not even funny how expensive that stuff gets.  People laugh at me for getting a $450 amp and wanting $800 headphones (lcd2.2s) if they only knew that people built rooms designed around speakers.

Lol. Room designed around speakers. That's actually part of my "dream" house, along with summit-fi electrostats and mono block amps.

but but... majority of those people who asked us why do we spend so much on audio gears which we uses everyday are people who spends great deal of money on bags which they only uses it once...or twice the most and say it's "out-dated, need to buy a new one".

I was shopping with my mum's friend in Europe for handbags, she spent over 20 000 euro on credit card and ask her husband if there's still enough cash for another handbag D: YKYAAW you are calculating how many high-end audio gears she could have spend on to relax herself and her family at night for music xD

YKYAA whenever someone mentions a large sum of money, you think of a setup to build with it.
