As I said in previous post, this jvc dx2000 will only available in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, definitely NOT Japan, discussion on Chinese forum said this is basiclly DX1000 re-paint gimmick, the so call newly developed driver is really nothing, JVC China is the only one reveal this headphone, not JVC Japan, we all know Japanese company sells best product within Japan, if this dx2000 will not be released in Japan, then this headphone does not worth our attention, just buy the dx1000I

My wallet feels much better.

Today I just had a chance to meet developer of JVC DX-1000, DX2000, also the global manager of headphone division.

They said DX-1000 and DX-2000 are identically using the same drivers and has the same sound quality.

The differences are

1) Housing finish
HA-DX1000-----Beatiful wooden pattern appears on the surface of housing
HA-DX2000-----Piano black finish but the original wooden pattern also appears on the surface.

2) Factory Aging
     HA-DX1000-----No aging at the factory
HA-DX2000-----48 hours aging at the factory so that user can enjoy the performance
of HA-DX2000 from the day one.

And this is available only 300 units for only Asian countries except Japan.

I guess it´s necessary. People buy gear like they have a best before date. Hard to keep fotm going otherwise :)
To bad they would price hike it at the same time instead of giving more DX 1000 to the masses :frowning2:.

I saw these today at Jaben in HK. We took them out of the box but I was not able to listen to them; they keep wood headphones pristine for the purchaser. (I don't object - and Kin at Jaben is a great guy.)

The DX2000 is quite attractive in real life but it's just a dark version of the DX1000.

Also the mystery of "why" has been solved. The DX2000 has been created to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Shun Hing Electronics, the long-time Hong Kong distributor of Victor/JVC/Panasonic and other Matsu****a products. It seems that there may be only 60 of the DX2000 out there.

OMG thank you so much for confirming this. Just bought the dx1000 and the upgrade bug kicked in, oh god there goes monthly pay for the dx2000. I actually prefer the look for the dx1000 woodcups more. So glad I stumble across this thread, might grab the TH-900 later as the end game closed headphone

I saw this only on JVC China's site

http://www.jvc.com.cn/headphone/ha-dx2000/index.html

List price is RMB$9,980

HP drivers direct fix on wood chamber, interesting!

So about $1600-1700 USD. I personally think the black finish is pretty attractive, and the added rarity adds a value to the collector. Kinda reminds me of the green variant of the Audio Technica "Leatherheads", which were extremely cool.

Following this logic why not to purchase the dx700 to save even more? Because I can imagine they played the same trick with the dx1000 - dx700
