I want to get some new gear for my rig. My current set up is the fiio e7+e9 combo along with denon d5000, AKG K702 and grado sr60s. I want a headphone that is basically a combination of the K702 and Denon. Which would be a can with a decent soundstage and bass. However I recently realized that it might also be time to upgrade my amp and DAC as well. What should I buy? A headphone, amp. DAC?

Thanks in advance

Edit: I'm getting the schiit m&m stack. Headphone suggestions under 300 would be appreciated

Equalize the headphones you currently have and spend 300 dollars on music.

I would look into the hifiman he-400s if you can stretch your budget and bit. I believe you can get them for 350 from headphones.com if you call them.

+1 if you can. Or get them used.

Sounds like the HE-400, but the budget is a problem. If you want to try something new, these would slot pretty nicely in between the Denons and the AKGs. The E7+E9 can easily drive the HiFiMANs. If you're really limited by the budget, best you upgrade the stack as you see fit, then upgrade cans later on.

I tried the hd 650 and the veil hurts so no

Wow. That might be the ironic complaint I've heard about the veil (not in a bad way, funny-ha-ha rather than sarcastic-funny)

Hmmm sounds interesting, it might be a bit out of my budget though. How's the build quality? Are the blue cups metal or plastic?
Anyways I was also looking into the beyerdynamic DT990 or DR880, how do they compare? Thanks for your input

Not sure about the Hifiman metal or plastic. But the DT880 is balanced and the DT990 is bassy.
