It is in Fort Mason Center in San Francisco on 10/28/12.  I'm going to try and make it in about 10 am and hang for a couple or 3 0r 4 hours.

I've got a conflict tomorrow, so I'd be interested to hear what you think of this.

If the stars align, and I'm able to make it in, I'll post up my experiences.  I've wanted to go for 3 or 4 years, since I heard of it.  I gotta believe a bunch of it will be pretty dry, and a bunch will be pretty fun.  What I've read of and from Nelson Pass makes him sound pretty entertaining, and pretty knowledgable.  Seeing him present, or meeting him would make the trip for me.

Made it. A very nice group of folks. Amb was there with some really cool line array speakers, and a bunch of amps, sources, etc. Linux Works was there with a bunch of cool stuff, but it was kinda crowded at his table when I was there, so I don't know what most of it did. Nelson Pass was there with a neat rig, and put on a nice talk that I understood about 10% of. Siegfried Linkowitz was there with a really cool pair of speakers that look easy to build - the active crossover looked a bit more challenging. I have a few pics - I'll post when I have bit of time.

My takeaway is that the local DIY community is really nice and helpful, and that great sounding rigs can be as simple or complicated as one desires.

If the BIG speakers that AMB was building were there, I'm sure that they were something to see and hear!
 
YOU, @aameford, at an <actual event> would also be something to see...hope you make it to the next Bay Area Meet 

Amb's speakers were not giant. A 5' tall line array with two subs - CBT36 by Audio Artistry. Google 'em up, they are cool! I've met Amb briefly twice. I nicer mad scientist one will never meet! Very knowledgeable and very pleasant. I really hope I'm free for this year's meet. I want to try out the new Centrance, Cypher Labs and RSA source and source / amps. I bet they will show up. Who knows what I'll have by then! Mostly I just want to hang out and meet people.
