For almost a year now, found the LCD3 to be quite delightful driven by the Intruder. Sure was ecstatic to find another Audeze under the Christmas Tree, Today.  Later, I will have an idea of  how this pairs.

VERY interested in hearing how the XC (that is the XC right?) pairs!! I'm hoping very well, because the XC is on my list for a high-end closed headphone. I love my HD800s but they aren't great to use in public spaces - the open design just lets too much sound out into the surrounding world. The XC looks beautiful! Let's hope those wood cups don't experience any cracking problems like the rosewood versions of the LCD-2.

I have read that the XC does well with good amping and not with poorer types. It seems to be finicky. I look forward to impressions. Beautiful looking phones. I would seem the Intruder would be an excellent match.

Initial Impression:   XC seem to be the easier to drive compared to the LCD3.  Just halfway the volume was more than enough.  Did not experience the XC to be Finicky.  The Intruder and XC  pairing seem to work Great SQ.    Oh yeah, the Player was a WhipMod, a Lod (4) BG-NX) caps and single core silver.  Auditioned single ended with a custom 7N UPOCC 22AWG cable which I have for the LCD3 with my Conductor.  Balanced out will most likely be more impressive.  Keywords to describe initial Impression:  Transparent and Intimate.  Again a delightful listening pleasure.

Hi Dale,  The XC seem to pair-off well with the Intruder, as expected.    Nice acoustics, quiet & intimate, more details and superb imaging. I think that's a lot for a first impression. We'll see how it goes the next few weeks.  I am not worried about the hardwood.

What I would like to know is how expansive the XC sounds. I hare read from one user, that I know very well, that while they image every well and layer, they are closed in sounding, even compared to some other well made closed phones. I have the TH900, which to me, are very open sounding and not boxy. So I am hoping the XC will not be boxy sounding and are open besides their other positive attributes.

I do concur that the XC image very well and layer, as well.  Listening to An Acoustic Measurement Demo CD by  Siltech,  (via Conductor - DSF at 192/64), not easy to conclude that the image is somewhat "boxed". Maybe more like listening in a Professional Recoding Booth to a small Concert Hall, as opposed to an open air Stadium/Field.   How expansive, definitely not as expansive as the LCD3.  I need to audition a TH900 to compare.   Anyway, these are all first Impressions and can update on how it goes pairing this with the Intruder.  Thanks!

I just balanced my TH900 and used new cable, better than the original. Will be giving the balanced a spin with the Intruder now. . . . . waaa whoooo

The DX50 and Intruder are almost exactly the same size. Great combination! Got the TH900 going balanced.

I am rediscovering the RSA intruder USB dac function, it's definitively not a slouch with my HD600 headphones.
The DX50 and intruder a true match in heaven.

Musicheaven.  Are you saying that you are using the usb of the DX50 into the RSA intruder, or are you going out to another dac first?  I didn't think the DX50 could do usb out.
What is your setup?  Just a usb otg cable into intruder?  Thanks.

No I am just using the Intruder DAC plugged into my PC through the USB port. I still dream of having a player with its own USB line in but that is going to be for another day. The sound I get out of it with my HD600 headphones is very comparable to the one I get when plugged through the DX50 Line out, I guess that is understandable because it's through he same amp.

I think the only way at the moment to be able to use the DX50 as a transport for the Intruder is if you could find a way to feed the DX50 Coax Out (believe to be I2S) to the Intruder USB In Connector, there might be a chance there but I am just speculating.

I am listening to my Fostex 900's balanced with Whiplash micro gold plated silver cable and the Intruder. This is extreme. The best cable I have ever heard/used and the Intruder. Too good.

OK.  Thanks.  From the PC makes sense.  I didn't allow my hopes to get too high.
I'm really enjoying the DX50 with the Intruder as well.
I don't think you can go from coax out to usb.  Different protocol's, I believe.  I researched it a while ago.  No dice.
Thanks again.

UPDATE: The LCD-XC continues to open-up.  Transparent and Intimate, Staging. Image, Layer, and Separation is Fantastic. Also natural and easy to drive.

After a hundred hours, the LCD-XC is far from "closed sounding" or Boxy, (as I honestly first thought/fear it would be, especially that my ears have been quite pampered and used to the LCD3). With the Conductor, Custom DEMO cables and DSD, the overall listening experience is very enjoyable - Acoustics, Audiophile Voice, Classical, Rock, House, so far at least with those I have had the chance to listen to.

The LCD-XC with the RSA Intruder & DX-50/Ipod WhipMod/multi-capLOD, pairs quite nicely especially Balanced-out stock cable.  I've auditioned it with a Custom Silver as well.    I've had the chance to audition the Intruder with a few Flagship IEM's, Portable Headphones, and  Cans open/closed Cans.  They all sound nice with the Intruder. The LCD-XC becoming my favorite, for sure.

I will be curious if the XC can get near the open sound of an open phone.
