Hopefully these issues have been brought to the attention of iRiver and we'll see them get addressed in a new firmware update.
 
But in the meantime, try reloading the latest firmware 1.33 and hopefully it will get taken care of.

Took your advice and loaded F/W1.33. Now it is having trouble scanning my card. only about 700 out of 2000+ songs get scanned.
 
Seriously this is becoming more and more of a pain in the ass.
 
Update: resolved after flashing the firmware a few more times.
 
For libraries with different languages, does anyone got a good way of editing the tags so that it doesnt turn up as gibberish?

I have bought a stock AK100 and Shure SE535 ltd-japan. Was thinking that was one of the best rigs the money can buy (not taking into account different mods and custom IEMs).
This morning I read about the new A120 and  the new Shure SE flagship, and you know what? - I'm not gonna buy the new toys, I'm quite satisfied with my current rig. 64Gb+64Gb on sd-cards + 32 Gb internal memory, all full of Hi-res music. I like the SQ VERY much.
I'm gonna spend some extra bucks on some more micro-sdxc cards and an upgrade cable for Shures.
On the go, when traveling, my AK100+SE535 rig is enough for me. I even think I do not need a portable amp (but who knows for sure?). At home I listen to CDs and LPs. Maybe I'll buy a desktop DAC some day for my "big" home system.
 
Modern marketologists are just trying to make ppl get rid of their money, they're just doing their job.
The only thing I'm worried about is the battery of AK100 - I mean it it will be possible to replace it when the original one dies.

No! I certainly do not endorse it. I think we need to get to know exactly what the price in US Dollars will be around the globe. Unfortunately, in Europe, you guys are always paying too much, with the VAT and the general 1 Euro/GBP = 1 USD pricing. Reasons why Samsung likes launching in Europe initially for their phones now, as they will receive top dollar.
 
Personally, I think the AK100 was nearly there sound quality wise, but the main criticism of the player is that it ultimately lacks power, and if they can rectify this issue, then it may be the DAP. 

BTW Spkrs, did you ever tried the Stage 1 mod?

Yes, I have tried the Stage 1, Stage 2, and the RWA, not sure if I get to try the Stage 4 tonight

Yes it is correct in stage 4 , AK 100 increase the gain about 5 - 10 %.
If I use my iem sm 64 in my AK 100 stock 60 , in Alex AK 100 stage 4 I must lower down
5 to 10 click .

Doesn't A/K have an announcement scheduled for May 10th?  Maybe it will be made official then?

Haha, It's normal that impressions change with time. It's no where near disappointing. They still sound better than dx100 IMO, I just want to find a DAP that can compete with my Anedio D2+ SE5 that's all.
