Sennheiser MOMENTUM Review

When I compare closed cans with an HD600 and up, they all seem small, so to me in relative terms they're all in the same ballpark, some a little bigger than others. Just the way I feel about these, in relative terms. From what people were saying I expected zero soundstage from the Momentums, which was not the case. Although the treble is IMO a little laid back, they are good enough to help with the dimension.

Some closed headphones have a good soundstage... For example the Denon's and probably the Alpha dog ( not tried AD ) however most of them sound pretty closed you are right....

The Fostex TH600/900 have a very good soundstage for closed headphone. I sold the Momentum after >6 months after I got the TH600. Comparing the Momentum and TH600 when watching movies is a no contest, but these 2 are at different price brackets.

Actually, I'd go as far as to say that the TH-900s have the best soundstaging of any closed headphone that I've owned/heard.

But do you think I can cut or reduce it by my own?

Once you trim the circumference of the plug it will no longer work with your HD5X8. If you ruin it or just need a new cable you can get the below for $12.95 from Sennheiser. Of course they will nail you for shipping and taxes. This cable is terminated with a 1/8" or 3.5mm plug, which is cellphone and DAP friendly, rather than the 1/4' plug on the original cable. It's also shorter than the original but not short as you would think by its name.

Worst is you may lose the lock mechanism. But it should still plug in just fine.

Here's the thing, I dont really like the momentum cable, and I was planning in getting this one and trim the head. My concern is the lock mechanism.

Hmm... the worst is that it simply won't work.
The Momentum cable has 4 poles for the remote control - this cable only has the standard 3 poles, so the actual connection points might be in the wrong place.

I thought the same however, the same happen with the 598 connector, it also have a 3pole connector, and does work apparently

I was planning to use that cable but you are probably right. I didn't understand very well in the Momentum Balanced mod how it was in the beginning, I Pm him to see if he can give me an answer.

I was just handed these heaphones to try out... no, just no.

I find both GR07's have better clarity/detail from bottom to top. It's provably just not my signature...Too melow? Dark? (Tinyman!)

I'm a bit shocked given what I've heard from both tyll and Lachlan's reviews but now I have a better feel for what they say. If I bought these for what they go... I would be in quite a bad mood, provably.... Lol. Still, it was hard for me to discern other instruments from the vocals. Even if I could, everything sounded clouded to me.

I'm actually thinking of getting my hearing checked. XD

tyll seems to like dark headphones judging from his reviews and recommendations...
