I have to admit I was completely wrong about the HD25 velours. I'm listening to them right now and they make a HUGE difference for the better. I had adjust the headphones a little to give better clamp force and I don't like the pads with a flat EQ. But after those minor adjustments they sound AMAZING. The mids and details stick out even more which to me is orgasmic. The only downside is a loss in bass impact, but the positives outweigh the negatives in this case. I'm really considering the ATH pleathers now.

Also, these make my ears hotter than the stock pads. People complain about sweat with the stock pads and it doesn't make sense to me. These velours make my ears hot really fast.

I thought the HD25 velours kept my ears cooler. I'll agree that with flat/no EQ, the stock pads are better than the velours....that's why I switched back. But come summertime, I will most likely put the velours back on and tinker with the EQ like you have.

It's definitely worth it. They are more comfortable for sure though. The velours lose a little bit of sparkle in the highs too, but no loss of detail or clarity.

That deal was a once in a life time slickdeal from the CNT gods.

It is old old news, and was probably a price mistake from the seller. The prices now are like ~$70 shipped from every seller from Jpn.

I payed $75 for mine and I got them a while ago...

It was literally like 3 weeks or something after his thread was started by Ds so......... it's been a long minute.  The funny thing is the prices for these is finally dropping but only slightly from the Jpn sellers. I just hope they bring it to the states so i can tell all my friends to get them. But i ain't holding my breath. LoL

Wow it felt like longer than that haha. I doubt these will ever come to the US, but it would be cool. I guess it makes them more exclusive.

One of the sellers told me it's because of how well/bad the Japanese yen is doing.

On another note, mine have been received and forwarded for UK processing. Woo, I should have them tomorrow. :D

This band sounds awesome in the S500s. If you don't like metal then skip to 1:00 and listen to that keyboard. It sounds SO GOOD! Make sure to play in HD for the best audio quality.

on ebay, the prices are just below $70 shipped, which is what i got it 4 weeks ago (dsnuts started the thread in august)

for those you want the bass back, tape up the ports under the pads- really simple since theirs no opening up the headphones

If you end up getting the M80s give us a comparison after you've burned them in! I'm curious to see how they compare
smily_headphones1.gif

Got the M-80s in the mail today.  Will burn in and compare soon.  Stay tuned.

Early impressions: the cups are significantly smaller than I expected, I like the build quality, and like the accessories.

To my ears, it sounds like the highs are similar (right now), the mids are a bit more clear and forward on the M-80s, and the bass is more...textured?...on the S500.

Again, I still need to compare, and this was based off like 30 mins comparison.  Maybe someone else can give a better comparison in the meantime?
