Bose does a bang-up marketing job at that. It just “shows-to-go-ya”.

I asked the audiologist (on duty) at my local Costco if he did impressions for custom earphones and he told me that I should buy Bose noise-canceling headphones instead because Bose was the best.

Is it better to market and “lose” than to never have marketed (correctly) at all?

Logitech should use AKG to go head-to-empty-noggin with Bose and Beats. Lower the K3003 to $399 and put them in every store.

But to be fair, those $149 Bose headphones are not that bad. Still, next time I'm in Costco I'll check to see if the name plate on the audiologist office door reads Dr. Bose.

Kinda sounds like something Monster would use...

Or really like 97.8 percent of the headsets talked about here in these threads.

Because good sounding audio gear is NOT sold in brick and mortar stores these days (Best Buy) people are forced to be fed that Bose is still the best.  This is due to ignorance.
If upper line Shure, Westone, etc were also sold people would realize that Bose is very average.

Actually futureshop and best buy started carrying Shure,JVC and some more. It is about the price points in stores though. There aren't many people who will spend $300 on some westone 3's because 1) they are very expensive compare to diddybeats let's say and 2.) the average person will have no idea who westone is.

And lastly some of the smaller manufacturers may not be able to supply huge quantities of their products.

I don't disagree and that's all fine but when the smoke clears...W3, W4, GR10, SM3, SE535 and a host of others(and all customs) will leave all store-brought IEM's in the dust as far as sound quality goes.

Hopefully all audiophiles will stray away from stores and realize you must go to Earphone Solutions or another one of the internet IEM sellers that sell IEM's that beat Best Buy IEM's like a re-headed stepchild!

Because Bose isn't all that bad, though certain in-ears have overpowering bass.
The price is.... A different story.

So if the in ears have overpowering bass, why "no highs, no lows" phrase? Again, I think the phrase applies to Bose speakers that are tiny with no dedicated tweeter and have a "bass module."

But of course that percentage does NOT include the Etymotic ER4, right Jim? I gotta know man, have you actually heard any other IEMs, or do you in fact work for Etymotic?

jk man, you know I love you.

I hear AstroTurf actually is an Etymotic ER4 that was so good at reproducing an uncolored frequency response, it gained sentience and learned to type.
