Final Audio Design Impressions and Discussion Thread

I need more time with them. The most immediate fortes of each earphone on first impression

1plus2: Forward transparency with projected soundstage. Addicting and crystalline.
Heaven V/VI: Rich and detailed. Truly lush mids, unlike ES5 IMO. More intimate and sexy than the others. But still with great extension on the ends.
KAEDE: Pure and natural. Soothing, like a cup of fresh green tea in the middle of a Japanese garden.

Thanks for clarifying.

Can't remember now, but do you happen to also have the FI-BA-SS? If so, could you possibly briefly comment on it and the V & VI's midrange?

I do have the SS, just check my signature for how much I like them ; )

The Heaven VI and V are very similar, so I'll use them interchangeably. The VI is a darker earphone with more robust bass, yet not as textured. So that translates to how the mids are presented. The SS has a larger sound stage. The mids are more 3D, and envolving. They are thinner, yet cleaner. The VI mid is more colored, but not nearly as much as something like the ES5, which is known for its immensely colored midrange. The VI is much more natural in timbre to me than any Westone. The VI is quite impressive, but it's just not as clean, clear, and 3D as the SS. For something like Keith Jarrett live at Koln, I could trade of with the VI and SS and be happy with each, enjoying the clean transparency of the SS, and soaking up the rich, still detailed sound of the VI.

^^  Thanks, much appreciated!

EDIT: Silly me, hadn't checked your sig, but only yesterday you were talking about the FI-BA-SS & PF IX! (using the Ety adaptor)

My first foray into portrait mode. A bit more challenging for some reason, probably having to do with my cheap, old tripod. In any event, I am a bit happy about the turnout of this one. No 'shop, edit, or crop. James, if you will forgive me, the scenery in my locale doesn't allow me to compete with such phenomenal environmental decor as you have so kindly provided.

It's actually a lot harder without the environmental decor, so kudos to you, great shot!

James, I do hope you don't honestly find woodcans' photos more accomplished than mine — that his technique is better, and that he could possibly be even more talented than I am!! Can't you see that he, like SGS, loves Van Halen?! Isn't that enough to dismiss and ignore ALL of his pics and put him on your ignore list?

Ermm, going to try the diplomatic way out of this, so let me just say that your pics are to my eyes what Van Halen are to my ears...

This really is beautiful, and probably my favorite of all your pictures!!!

So This Is Love?

woodcans,

Definitely one of my favorites. Nice work. I like that I can see your fingerprints on the Hi-Res. Humanity added to the cold steel. A metaphor with the cold steel representing the headphone audiophile industry, and your fingerprint representing Final Audio Design - leaving its mark, humanizing the machine.

Feel Your Love Tonight!

Tora! Tora!

Wow. I guess with that, you can take your whiskey home.

Bottoms Up!

Sorry, all, couldn't resist, after SGS's awesome post! In all seriousness, I really do appreciate your comments. Even music's twisting/turning compliment. And music, I was especially joking in your case, I certainly approve of almost any photo including liquids of the fermented and/or distilled type.

Landed (please excuse the music-quality photo, I'm at work):

My perception of the ergonomics of the Heaven VI is very different than my brief experience with the IV. The cable on the VI seems really supple and easy to use. The IV that I tried was all curly and awkward. Is this difference just in my head?

Anyway I'm running the cable over my ears with no problems. It's comfortable and eliminates all microphonics. It makes me angry about the IE800s all over again seeing how easy it is for a company to get the cable length right, both above the cinch and in total.

Impressive number of earpiece choices: six sets. Fit is not a problem. I have two options that are pretty good, maybe more.

As for the sound, not a detail monster but compelling... Those vocals... This might be another great, slightly out there, FAD IEM... It's way too early to comment properly...

Heaven V Aging has arrived. If the rest of the FAD headphones are this nice then pictures might not even do them justice, but I'll upload a few tomorrow morning anyway when I have access to a computer.

First impressions are that they are both the most engaging and the most unpredictable IEM I have heard.

^^ My cable while not looking very premium actually feels really nice and I don't think it'll tangle much, if at all.

Does anyone know how the different shaped tips are supposed to change the sound?
I remember seeing it somewhere online but I can't seem to find it anymore.

Congrats again, both of you, on your "slice of heaven."

The cable is interesting, and the same one the VI and V. No problem with microphonics if you comfortably run over the top of the ear. Very comfortable to me. Don't know if VI and V, is different from IV.

And yes Paul, I think it is another "out there" FAD IEM to be loved for its magic, but also being very versatile in its musical genres.

vwinter, the tips for me mattered. My favorite are the Small Type B tips. Normally I run larger eartips on my phones. Definitely try many pair. They changed the sound alot for me.

Here's the difference in the tips that come with the Heaven V/VI: Theres S/M/L of Type A, and Type B
