I wonder if they did anything too improve the problem with the p5s that they are very placement sensitive, with the p5s you have too play around with them too find the sweet spot so they sound too there full potential.

The only placement problem that I'm aware of is that Bowers & Wilkins has yet to place a pair of P5s firmly in my possession - and somehow I don't think that will be rectified anytime soon.

I am using the black P3s for some days now. I used to have the P5s as my on-the-go headphone when I didn't feel like using IEMs. While I knew that the P5s have never been the clearest sounding headphone I really enjoyed them. I was craving for something more portable though while keeping the sexy looks f the P5s.

You guys can imagine my xcitement when B&W announced these. However after about a week of use I am still not sure whether I lie these or not. I gave my P5s to my sister so I dint have the chance to A/B them directly. This week I will hopefully be able to do that and give you guys feedback if you are interested.

The P3s sound very dark and a little out of balance n the low end IMHO. I will give a more detailed impression on the sound though once I broke them in for about 30-40 hours because I can remember how well the P5 improved over time.

One thing I can say for sure: the soundstage on the p3s is much wider than the P5s.

Best

I found the same with the P5s - thankfully it's not an issue I've remotely had with the P3s. They sound great without endless messing around with positioning, and because the cups don't pivot the fit's always consistent. With the P5s I'd find that sweet spot, then the next day have to make adjustments to try and find it again. Not so with the P3s, which is a real relief.

If anybody has these, I'd be curious about your impressions with them with the pads removed.

I hear them as substantially better.

I wish B&W would make a true hifi headphone that could compete with the current top end.
