The FitEar CIEM Impressions Thread

I'd say the 435s were marginally more treble-centric than mid-centric. But the definite biggest difference between the 2 models would be the way they produce bass. The 335s have a significant increase in quantity of bass over the 435s - with the bass sounding a bit more bloated than the 435s to me.

Where are you located Slaval? The current waiting period for a pair of Fitear CIEMs is close to 2 months, so I wouldn't count on you being able to go to Japan and get them in such a short period of time.

umm, just you know.. it's 3 months for me (i live in Indonesia)

i wanna cry.

o_O my word, another Londoner?! You have to help me out here dude, I have done extensive research and cannot find anything. Are you telling me you know places where this is possible. Where on earth did you audition the JH13, 16 & Roxanne?!!! I thought that was only possible in developing countries. I'm all ears!

Get in contact with Paul at the Custom IEM Company. He'll do you moulds and let you audition stuff and he's an EXTREMELY knowledgeable and decent guy. He'll also dispel some of your illusions from trying to "virtually" audition gear by reading Head-Fi!!!! There's ABSOLUTELY no substitute for listening to stuff. Kind of makes sense really! I would have bought Roxannes based on the reviews here but didn't like them at all and the 13s just blew them out of the water in regards to clarity, detail, and soundstage. But that's just my opinion! About to go to Singapore and test FitEars and a lot more so kind of excited! Good luck with your quest! Details are http://www.custom-inearmonitors.co.uk/demo-sessions.html

No need to make an appointment, just go ahead and visit them when they're open (12-9pm most days). They have most CIEM demos available, so allocate as much time as possible to just sit down and listen!

As for your music taste, it sounds like you might like the Fitear MH334s or 435s. I'm switching form JH Audio because I found that although the JHAs sound good, the Fitears to me are significantly better. Factor in their obviously superior build quality (compare their connectors side by side to JH's), and you understand why they're worth the premium over the JHs.

Hope that's helpful - let me know if you have any other questions!

Thanks for your advice mate! Will definitely take it on board. Been in contact with Claire at Jaben and she's EXTRAORDINARILY helpful. Even returns emails within an hour! Lucky or not that sort of customer service just makes me want to buy something from them straight away! I lecture in innovation/management/entrepreneurship at Uni and THIS is the way to run a company! Especially for something as esoteric CIEMS! And just because you asked.... any advice on source? I'm tossing up between getting a Chord Hugo and some sort of less expensive DAP and an AK240? Give that clarity, resolution, soundstage, detail seem to be my thing. Hopefully I might get to hear them at Jaben as well! Cheers

vq_aus I'm in Hong Kong right now and I know there's a Jaben and other stores but I'm afraid the molds won't be as good as in Japan (I'm just supposing this I don't have anything to base on) but if I fly to Japan I could return when they would be ready but don't know if they are ok with that. Same here in HK, I can return after they are ready.

Hi Slaval, if I were you, I'd trust Jaben HK to do good molds as the Jaben guys have actually been taught how to make molds for Fitears by Suyama-san himself.

I also doubt that they would even take your order if you go to Japan - especially if you came from a country that had a local distributor and didn't have a local address in Japan. The best way is simply to email Fitear and see what they say!

It must be said that it's not easy to get fitear to reply to your email (even if yours is written in Japanese)

+1. Absolutely! Claire is very good and is a keen audiophile as well. Passion & professionalism. :)

If I were to summarise quickly, personally I'd say the 435 is more tonally balanced to mid-centric whereas the 335DW is more bass/mid with a neutral treble (some would say treble roll-off but not IMHO).

Others feel free to correct me.

435 is more balanced from treble through to mids and bass. The 335DW is more focused on lower ends. No surprise since it had a double woofer. :)

Thanks for all the responses!

vq_aus That's good to know! That takes my doubt about that then. I'm not a resident here either, I just travel a lot frequently but if there's no difference then I'll go check the demos at Jaben and maybe make my order :D

Thank you.

I had my MH335DW ear impressions made by Derek of Jaben HK. I must say that I have absolutely no fit problems with my Fitears. Fitears are really on a class of their own when it comes to quality.

I remember Derek telling me that the reason why some CIEM companies have fit problems is because some don't use a laser scanner to get the exact shape of the ear moulds. He also told me out of all the Fitear orders they have gotten, only 1 or 2 have actually had problems.

If you read previous comments in this thread it has befn clearly stated that you are unable tingly to Japan get molds and place your order. You have to live in Japan.
Going to Jaben is your only solution.

How on earth did you find this? I've been looking for ages. Were your ear impressions done by them good?
