Gotta love the whole detachable cable trend! Never understood how or why these mmxc connectors or the removable cable feature itself caught on like it has. The irony is comical. A removable cable that causes shorts....

Not quite everyone.  Fidue uses a locking cap on their new Sirius, and Jays also have one on their new q-Jays.  Haven't seen any issues with those.  Campfire's are also the tightest I've come across, and they use beryllium coating for longer life.  Not saying they won't have issues - but none reported to my knowledge yet.

I must be extremely unlucky to have it happen so many times in such a short time span. It's getting to the point where I've been without them for longer than I've had them.
Ideally I don't want to drop another $800 AUD on IEMs because these don't work longer than 2 months at a time.

Got one for ya. Had to return my Lyra because the MMCX connector crapped out pretty much the moment it came out of the box.
I'm with the 2-pin backers now.

Oh I prefer 2 pin if given the choice.  That Lyra issue must have been a manufacturing defect I guess - it happens.

Wow I didn't realize MMCX cause people so many problems. The only issue I have ever encountered with that connection type was oxidation of the metal in some fashion that cause static. I simply used some deoxit to solve the problem. Never had a broken connection or anything like that. I put some of my IEMs through the works on a daily basis too.

I don't know what is going on but my replacement set of Harmony's have now started developing the connector defect on the left hand side. I truly love the sound that these IEMs produce, but the QC has been extremely lackluster.
This will be the 3rd time that I'm sending a pair back within 9 months.

U mean 3 different pair has been sent back within 9 months ?
That's something bad to know , and QC things like these will certainly cause worried on new potential customers .

Hope the ppl in fenders / aurisonics can be more aware of it

Yea this time will be the 3rd time that I'm sending them back, each time they work for about 2 months at most before breaking down again. I'm extremely careful with these things and don't use them in a weird weird way, the connectors are not under tension because of an odd angle, nor do I unplug the connectors constantly - come to think of it I've only ever done so when testing whether the cable is faulty or not.

It really is such a shame because sound wise these are everything. Doesn't help that every time I send them off I lose them for anywhere between 4-8 weeks.

Ok, so I just picked up fxa2 and fxa7. Fxa7 sound great but the mmcx connectors are crap! None of my aftermarket cables work properly, sound keeps going in and out. I'm afraid the stock cable will do the same thing in no time. How could they make a connector this flimsy? And the stock cable is too short! Anyone have an aftermarket cable that works with them?

Yea I have an aftermarket SPC cable for em, and it makes em sound even better! Way better. Night and day difference in my opinion. It adds more weight to the lows and highs and makes everything "pop". Couple that with something like the dragonfly red and you'll get a sound that's simply miraculous. Makes me smile every time I put them in. But about the cables, I got them from the headphone lounge. Ted Allen is the man in charge. He makes awesome cables. PM me if you want his info and a referral.

One of my aftermarket cables sounds much better than stock but the sound keeps going in and out, like the connector keeps losing contact. Which cable do you have? Please give me Ted Allen's info?

Yea everyone has different issues with the cables for the FX series headphones... I had a problem with the stock cable too originally and had to send my set back into Fender so they could replace the connectors and gave me a brand new cable. Haven't had a problem since. But the cables I got is a type 2 OCC Litz SPC cable. The soundstage these cables get out of the FXA7's are nothing short of incredible. Ted Allen's email is tedallen0220@gmail.com. Tell him yohanas26 (John) sent u. =)
