I just found out about the Beyerdynamic Custom Ones. I haven't seen any threads about it yet so I'm posting one now =)

The Beyerdynamic Custom Ones seem 100% new and I haven't seen much info about them just yet.

The official page says that the C.Os (Custom Ones) use a 16 ohm driver and have an adjustable sound.
Furthermore, they can be custom designed similarly to the manufaktr from Beyer and V-Moda's own customizing.

Anyway, what are your takes on this?

From the looks of it, they're over-ear:

There is a slider on the headphones which adjusts the sound to your liking.

Slider on position 1 (completely closed): sounds like DT770 M
Slider on position 2: sounds like dt 880 pro
Slider on position 3: sounds like dt 770 pro
Slider on position 4: bass emphasis

Please note sound is not identical, but should be comparable.

This actually seems pretty cool.
not the appearence shifting ability, but the sound sig.
at home, want bigger soundstage and doesnt need isolation - BAM open headphones
On the go, couldnt care less about soundstage, just need some isolation - BAM closed headphones:D

Any news on the price, and if it is a on/over-ear construction?

From a quick look, this, in my newer opinion definitely looks like it could go far either way. One way being good, one being bad. I feel it could go the route of a imbalanced phone, that doesent have the same quality of the rest of the beyerdynaic line. Or it could simply be a shot at getting attention and still have the sound that people who like beyerdynamic phones enjoy. Also, the customization looks quite fun, but i can assume it will likely have some effect on the sound if you are able to adjust so much, but i am FAR from an expert.

This was posted earlier. Seems a bit gimmicky to me. Beyer is known for quality not gimmicks. Of course I hope that they are great, but we will just have to wait and see. I heard something about a June release date.

These could be interesting depending on how easy they are to adjust and how well they sound in different configurations.

Some consumer friendly beyers? I don't expect them to be of great value, but you know what; I'm totally for it. If beyer can get there name out there with the general market, I think it would be good. People have to drop mediocre headphones from their daily lives...
